What changed on May 28, 2025?
MacRumors reported that Apple lowered the Apple Card Savings APY from 3.75% to 3.65% on May 28, 2025. It described this as the second reduction of that year; the preceding cut, in March 2025, took the rate from 3.90% to 3.75%. These are dated rate changes, not a promise of what the account pays today. MacRumors’ May 28, 2025 report attributed this explanation to Apple: “The APY on Savings is variable, and we may change rates at any time.”

Is Apple Savings still paying 3.65%?
No: 3.65% was the rate reported on May 28, 2025. Apple’s application page listed 3.40% APY as of September 4, 2026. That later figure is also dated, not a forecast or assurance of the rate on a subsequent day. Apple says the APY may change before or after an account is opened. Check the APY shown in Wallet or consult Apple’s Apple Card application page and its dated disclosure before making a decision.
Why can the rate change?
Apple identifies the APY as variable and says it can change rates at any time. The May 2025 report establishes that the rate decreased, but it does not establish a specific economic reason for that decision. It would be misleading to infer a cause from the rate change alone.

How Apple Savings works
Apple Savings is a deposit account associated with Apple Card, provided by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch, Member FDIC. Eligible Apple Card owners and co-owners can open it through Wallet, subject to eligibility, device, and geographic restrictions. Apple says the account has no fees or minimum balance requirements. Apple Support’s account guidance says interest compounds daily and is credited monthly.
- Daily Cash earned with Apple Card can be deposited into Savings.
- You can add money from a linked bank account or Apple Cash.
- To access funds, transfer them to Apple Cash or a linked external bank account.
- Apple says account holders can view the current APY in Wallet.
Does the announced Apple Card issuer change affect Savings?
On January 7, 2026, Apple announced that Chase would become Apple Card’s new issuer, with the transition expected to take approximately 24 months. In that announcement, Apple said Savings accounts were provided by Goldman Sachs Bank USA. The announcement described a future transition; it did not say that the transition was complete or that it changed the Savings APY. Apple’s announcement is the source for those details.
