Two seasons of Andor were associated with $705.5 million in spending, according to 2025 secondary reporting of UK company filings. That figure includes $7.2 million attributed to earlier Obi-Wan Kenobi work; subtracting it leaves about $698.3 million associated with Andor. The report gives a separate net-spending figure of $552.4 million after described reimbursements, tax credits, insurance and a pandemic-grant payment. These are reported figures, not a budget Disney announced, and the underlying accounts were not directly examined here.
What does the $705.5 million figure cover?
The figure is reported as total spending associated with both seasons of Andor in company statements covered by 2025 reporting. It is not the budget for one season. The same report attributes $7.2 million to work on Obi-Wan Kenobi before the production company shifted to Andor. Subtracting that amount gives an approximate Andor-associated spend of $698.3 million. The report’s account of the figures should be treated as secondary reporting: it does not make the total a Disney-announced or independently verified final budget.

Why is the reported net figure lower?
The reporting gives $552.4 million as net spending after reimbursements, tax credits, insurance and a pandemic-grant payment. That is distinct from the $705.5 million gross spending figure, and the gap should not be described as a simple repayment by the UK government. The reported net amount reflects multiple receipts and adjustments as described in the coverage.
UK tax relief offers general context for why gross production spend and net cost can differ, but it does not verify Andor’s claimed relief. HMRC says high-end television relief is calculated using eligible core costs: pre-production, principal photography and post-production. The additional deduction is limited to the lower of 80% of total core costs or UK core costs; a loss may be surrendered for a payable credit, subject to the rules. HMRC’s film tax relief guidance explains the general framework, not the production-specific calculation for this series.

Is Andor the most expensive Star Wars project?
The claim is defensible only with a clear comparison: reported spending for both seasons of Andor exceeds commonly reported production costs for individual Star Wars films. It is not an audited, like-for-like ranking of every project in the franchise. A two-season series and a single feature are different units, and published totals can vary in their accounting period, included costs and treatment of tax relief or other receipts. No independently verified apples-to-apples table of Star Wars production costs is established by the cited reporting.
A useful comparison would specify the project scope, gross or net basis, and format and duration. Per-episode or per-hour comparisons would also require documented runtime and cost figures measured on a consistent basis; the available figures do not establish that comparison.

What is Andor, and how much series does the total include?
Disney describes Andor as a Lucasfilm original series on Disney+, created by Tony Gilroy and set before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Disney’s press material lists 12 episodes in its first season. The reported $705.5 million total, by contrast, is associated with both seasons, so the season-one episode count should not be used to imply a per-episode cost for the full reported spend. How to read the headline number
- $705.5 million: reported spending associated with both seasons, plus activity the report says included earlier Obi-Wan Kenobi work.
- About $698.3 million: the approximate amount associated with Andor after subtracting the reported $7.2 million for that earlier work.
- $552.4 million: the report’s net-spending figure after the receipts and credits it describes, not the gross production-spending total.
