Still, the leading proposal won about 22.5% of votes cast, and a worker-oriented AI proposal also failed at Amazon’s 2026 meeting. The votes show weaker support for these specific measures—not that investor concerns about working conditions, packaging, climate reporting or AI oversight have disappeared.
What happened at Amazon’s 2025 annual meeting?
Amazon held its annual meeting on May 21, 2025, and filed the results with the SEC the following day. None of the shareholder proposals reported in the filing was approved. Amazon’s proxy statement said eight proposals were on the ballot: seven sought reports, and four repeated proposals that had failed in earlier years. The topics included packaging, warehouse working conditions, climate impacts and AI oversight. Amazon’s 2025 Form 8-K reports the meeting results; the company’s 2025 proxy statement describes the proposals and the board’s recommendations.
A failed proposal is not the same as an absence of support. The warehouse conditions proposal received more than 1.7 billion votes in favor. But the ballot results do not reveal why individual shareholders voted as they did, and they cannot establish that investors broadly rejected labor or climate concerns.
Which proposals received the most support?
The strongest result among the proposals discussed in the available reporting was for a report on warehouse working conditions. Amazon’s official tally allows the support rate to be calculated from votes for and against; abstentions and broker non-votes are excluded from that calculation.

The packaging percentage differs slightly between the calculation from the SEC counts and GeekWire’s reported figure. Treat 13.6% and 13.5% as a small source-calculation or rounding difference, not as identical figures. The official tallies for the warehouse and packaging proposals appear in Amazon’s 2025 Form 8-K; GeekWire reported the rounded proposal figures and climate result in its account of the meeting.
How much did support fall from 2022?
GeekWire reported substantially higher support for similar packaging and warehouse proposals in 2022. These are proposal-specific comparisons using the rounded figures reported by GeekWire; they are not a measure of all shareholder activism at Amazon.

GeekWire’s comparisons suggest that repeat proposals on these two issues lost ground between the cited meetings. They do not show why support changed or whether shareholders’ views on other topics moved in the same direction.

Warehouse working conditions
The leading proposal sought a report on warehouse working conditions. Its roughly 22.5% share of votes cast made it the strongest result among the measures covered here, although it fell well short of approval.

Packaging materials
The packaging proposal requested reporting on packaging materials. Support was about 13.6% based on the official votes for and against, compared with 49% for a packaging proposal in 2022 in GeekWire’s account.
Data centers and climate commitments
The data-center proposal called for more reporting on the climate impact of Amazon’s data centers. GeekWire reported 19.9% support. Proponents argued that rapid data-center growth, including demand associated with AI, made clearer disclosure important and questioned whether renewable energy credits could keep pace with rising energy demand.

Eliza Pan, a former Amazon employee and co-filer of the climate proposal, told GeekWire: “Amazon is hiding the massive impacts of its AI with misleading reporting.” She added: “If the company is serious about its Climate Pledge, we need to know what’s really happening.” These are the proponents’ criticisms, not findings established by the vote result.
AI oversight
AI oversight was another proposal subject on the 2025 ballot, which Amazon’s proxy described as including proposals seeking reports. The proxy presented the board’s recommendations against the shareholder proposals and described Amazon’s existing oversight and reporting as reasons the requests were unnecessary.

Why did the proposals fail?
Amazon’s board opposed the shareholder resolutions, arguing that they were unnecessary given the company’s existing disclosures, policies, commitments and progress. Proponents of the data-center climate measure made the counterargument that data-center expansion and AI-related energy demand called for clearer reporting. These are competing positions about the need for additional disclosure; the vote records establish the outcomes, not which argument persuaded each voter.
Because most of the ballot proposals sought reports, the results concern requests for disclosure or oversight rather than a direct vote on Amazon’s actual labor or environmental performance. A vote against a proposal does not establish that a shareholder endorses every company policy on the subject.
What changed at the 2026 annual meeting?
Amazon’s Form 8-K for its May 20, 2026 annual meeting says a proposal to create and maintain a worker-oriented AI advisory council was not approved. That result shows proposal activity continued into 2026. It does not provide a support percentage in the filing summary cited here, establish the views of shareholders as a whole, or show that the same proposals were repeated with the same support pattern.
