a16z Speedrun’s SR007 Summer/Fall 2026 application window is closed: applications were due May 17, 2026, and the cohort is scheduled to run July 27 through October 11, 2026. The April 20 announcement offered accepted companies up to $1 million, split between an upfront investment and a possible follow-on investment. Founders considering the program now can apply for future cohorts; the current application page lists a priority window for SR008 from October 12 to November 1, 2026.

What was announced for SR007?

Andreessen Horowitz announced SR007, its Summer/Fall 2026 Speedrun cohort, on April 20, 2026. The cohort was scheduled for July 27–October 11, 2026, with applications due May 17 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. The announcement said applications would be reviewed on a rolling basis and funds wired upon acceptance. Those were the published dates and process for that cohort; they are not a current application window. a16z’s SR007 announcement

The assigned title’s “fifth event” wording is not confirmed by the official material: the SR007 announcement and the FAQ each describe six cohorts as completed. The program materials identify this cohort as SR007, or Summer/Fall 2026, rather than establishing it as the fifth event.

How does the advertised $1 million investment work?

The published headline offer was up to $1 million, not an unconditional cash grant: $500,000 for 10% upfront via a SAFE, plus another $500,000 into the company’s next round within 18 months. The current deal page also describes a right to invest in subsequent rounds (pro rata), an employee option-pool expectation, no board seat, and funding upon close. These are program summaries; a founder’s signed documents govern the individual transaction and its exact terms. Current Speedrun deal terms

For a personal comparison with another accelerator or early-stage investment, separate the initial cash and equity terms from the possible follow-on. Also compare when funding arrives, any follow-on or pro rata rights, option-pool expectations, and governance rights. The announced headline alone does not establish the complete terms of a specific founder’s offer.

What support and credits did a16z describe?

The SR007 announcement described access to investors and operator support for fundraising, business development, recruiting, marketing, and HR. It also cited a founder community, legal resources for option-pool setup and incorporation, and no board seat. These are a16z’s descriptions of its program, not independent assessments of the value or results founders should expect. SR007 program description

For SR007, the announcement advertised more than $5 million in cloud, AI, and software credits from partners, alongside priority access to model providers, app stores, and social platforms. Current general Speedrun materials instead advertise more than $10 million in credits. These are different claims from different pages and dates; the current figure should not be substituted for what SR007’s announcement said. Credit headline values are not cash and do not show whether a particular company can use every offer or on what restrictions. SR007 announcement; Current Speedrun FAQ; Current application page

Can founders still apply, including solo or international founders?

SR007’s May 17 deadline has passed. The FAQ says late submissions are automatically reviewed for the upcoming cohort. It also says solo founders and founders from around the world can apply. The current program page lists SR008 in San Francisco in early 2027; the application page gives an SR008 priority window of October 12–November 1, 2026, while stating that applications are accepted year-round. How do the published cohort and program figures differ?

The official pages publish cumulative figures that are not directly consistent, so keep each tied to its source and date rather than combining them.

Source and date Published figure Context
Andreessen Horowitz, SR007 announcement, April 20, 2026 Over 250 companies backed and more than $300 million invested The announcement says this was after six cohorts.
Current a16z Speedrun program page, accessed October 7, 2026 More than 200 startups funded and over $180 million deployed The page says Speedrun launched in 2023.

The SR007 announcement also names FLORA, Hedra, and Runware as companies that “got their start here,” and says nearly 10,000 investors engaged with companies in the last batch. Those are claims made in the announcement, not independent measures of outcomes. SR007 announcement; Current program page

What should founders verify before deciding?

  • Read the individual investment documents: published summaries do not provide the complete SAFE, closing conditions, or applicant-specific terms.
  • Confirm the current cohort dates, application window, location, and participation expectations on the official application page.
  • Evaluate credits by the services offered, eligibility, expiration, and restrictions relevant to your company; a stated credit valuation is not equivalent to cash.
  • Compare the actual funding schedule, equity and follow-on terms, option-pool expectations, and board or governance rights with other programs.
