However, MT4 itself says little about the quality of a broker. The same software is used by firms with very different execution models and financial protections. Test the broker’s stated server, demo account, order execution, spreads during volatile periods, and withdrawal process separately.

- commission per lot, if the account uses raw or reduced spreads;
- overnight financing and three-day swap charges;
- currency-conversion fees;
- deposit and withdrawal charges;
- inactivity fees;
- slippage and rejected or requoted orders; and
- the minimum trade size and margin requirement.
For example, a broker advertising a 0.0-pip spread may charge a commission that makes the all-in cost higher than a standard account with a wider spread. Calculate the total cost of one round-trip trade rather than comparing the headline spread alone.
Regulation and client protection
Regulation is the most important part of this review. Charterprime’s historical materials have been associated with regulated and offshore arrangements, but the relevant question is not whether the brand has ever held a license. It is whether the exact entity accepting your application is currently authorized to provide the product to you.

- Regulator register: Search the regulator’s own database, not a badge or link supplied by the broker.
- Permitted activities: A company may be registered but not licensed to offer leveraged derivatives or manage client money.
- Protection rules: Confirm segregation of funds, compensation-scheme eligibility, negative-balance protection, and the available complaints process.
Do not assume that a company licensed in Australia, the United Kingdom, or another country automatically protects a client who is onboarded through an offshore affiliate. The client agreement normally identifies the relevant entity.
