No reliable evidence in the available reporting confirms takeover talks at Millwall or Southampton, or that Alex Neil and Will Still have reacted to them. The headline’s claim should therefore be treated as unverified—not as confirmation of a bid, negotiations or either manager’s concern.
What is known about the takeover claim?
The available sources do not identify a bidder, a proposal, negotiations, deal terms or a statement from either club or the EFL. They also provide no direct evidence that Neil or Still has cause for alarm. Without that evidence, it is not possible to explain who might be involved or what a takeover could mean for either manager.

That distinction matters: a headline can raise a question, but it does not establish that a transaction is underway. On the evidence available here, the premise remains unverified.
What do the cited reports actually establish?
- The Guardian’s December 2023 Sunderland analysis discusses Neil’s earlier Sunderland tenure and mentions Still in the context of a possible managerial candidate. It does not connect either man to takeover discussions at Millwall or Southampton.
- BBC Sport’s Southampton page includes November 2025 discussion of candidates after Still’s Southampton spell and Tonda Eckert’s interim role. That is historical context, not confirmation of Still’s status in October 2026 or of any takeover.
- The Tufty Club’s August 2026 season preview describes Millwall under Neil and comments on the team’s prospects. It is a fan preview, not authoritative ownership reporting.
- Sports Mole’s Millwall–Southampton preview concerns a past fixture and team news, not ownership developments.
What would confirm a takeover story?
Readers need reporting that identifies the parties and distinguishes speculation from an actual transaction. Useful confirmation would include a named prospective buyer, a clear account of whether there is a proposal or negotiation, a statement from the club or relevant governing body, and direct evidence for any claimed effect on a manager.

Until such evidence is available, the responsible conclusion is limited: the cited material does not substantiate takeover talk at either club or the claim that Neil and Still are alarmed by it.
