ANA Group suspended the AirJapan brand after about two years, but it did not shut down the company that operated the flights. AirJapan’s last branded flight was March 28, 2026; Air Japan Co., Ltd. continues to operate international flights under the ANA brand. ANA’s stated reason was to concentrate aircraft and staff in its ANA operation amid industry disruption and aircraft constraints—not a reported collapse in AirJapan demand.
What happened to AirJapan?
ANA Group announced on October 30, 2025, that it would suspend the AirJapan brand as part of a restructuring of its airline portfolio. The brand began operating in February 2024, positioning itself between a full-service carrier and a low-cost carrier. Its final branded flight was March 28, 2026, according to ANA’s later retrospective. Air Japan Co., Ltd. describes the service as suspended from the end of March 2026.
ANA planned to move AirJapan’s aircraft and employees into ANA operations and use ANA and Peach as its two airline brands from fiscal year 2026. The company behind AirJapan did not disappear: Air Japan continues to operate international flights under the ANA brand.
Why did ANA make the change?
ANA framed the decision as resource allocation. Its announcement said it wanted to concentrate aircraft and personnel in ANA operations to expand its international business. The company also pointed to disruption affecting airline operations and aircraft availability; it did not describe the change as a response to a documented failure to attract passengers.

Longer routes and greater operating needs
ANA’s October 2025 strategy presentation cited the prolonged war in Ukraine and rerouting around Russian airspace. It said European flight time had increased by approximately 30 percent. That is ANA Group’s figure for the conditions described in its presentation, not a universal increase for all airlines or routes. Longer journeys can require more aircraft and flight crew, as well as cabin crew, to sustain a schedule.
Aircraft delivery and availability constraints
ANA also cited aircraft delivery delays and Boeing 787 aircraft-on-ground constraints. Its strategy presentation additionally described engine-related restrictions on available aircraft. Together, those pressures formed part of ANA’s explanation for reviewing how it allocated aircraft and people across its brands, while it expected continued high profitability in long-haul international operations.

Did AirJapan go out of business?
No. The AirJapan brand and its branded service ended, but Air Japan Co., Ltd. remains an operating company. ANA’s announcement said the company, which had managed flights for both brands, would continue contributing to ANA’s international business by operating ANA-branded international flights. Air Japan says it will focus on ANA operations and expand, primarily in Asia and Oceania.
What happened to AirJapan’s routes?
AirJapan’s branded network consisted of three routes from Narita: Bangkok, Seoul, and Singapore. ANA’s announcement and retrospective identify those destinations, but the available statements do not establish that the routes transferred unchanged to ANA or another brand. The end of AirJapan-branded service should not be taken as confirmation that each route ended—or continued—on the same schedule.

ANA said AirJapan had been capturing inbound demand. In its 2026 retrospective, ANA reported that about 70 percent of AirJapan passengers were inbound visitors to Japan. That is ANA’s reported passenger mix, not an independently audited figure in the cited material.

What former AirJapan customers should know
A March 25, 2026, notice said AirJapan’s website functions for past reservations, certificates, and receipts, as well as its FAQs and contact center, would be available until June 30, 2026. That date has passed, and the notice does not establish whether those channels remain accessible now. Check Air Japan or ANA’s official channels directly before relying on them for a receipt, certificate, or reservation record.
