Website Planet’s 2023 roundup names 88 Indigenous-owned businesses in the United States and Canada, spanning products and services. Treat it as a place to discover businesses—not as confirmation that every entry is still operating, Indigenous-owned, selling the same products, or serving the same area. Check current details with each business before buying, booking, or commissioning work.
What kinds of businesses are in the roundup?
The list covers a wide range of needs, from gifts and personal-care products to professional services and travel. The examples below are businesses as described in Rebecca Janacek’s Website Planet roundup, first published February 10, 2023; their current offerings have not been independently confirmed here.

How to check whether a listing still fits your needs
A roundup first published in 2023 is a starting point, not a live catalogue. Before placing an order or making a commitment, contact the business or use its current official channels to confirm:
- It is operating and still offers the product or service you want.
- Its current ownership and the way it describes its Indigenous identity or community affiliation.
- Whether it serves your location, ships to your destination, or has booking availability.
- Its current prices, ordering or booking process, and any relevant terms.
Use the business’s own current shop or contact details where possible. A product category appearing in a roundup does not establish that a particular marketplace listing is genuine, that the named business is its seller, or that the business receives the sale.

Where to find more Indigenous-owned businesses in Canada
Indigenous Business Directory
Indigenous Services Canada’s public Indigenous Business Directory is another route for finding Canadian businesses, including suppliers pursuing business opportunities. Its registration guidance says eligibility requires a business to be at least 51% owned and controlled by Indigenous people under the criteria it lists. A directory listing is not, by itself, confirmation that a business offers consumer sales or serves your location.
Canadian Council for Indigenous Business
The Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) has a Certified Indigenous Business program and a member directory. These are CCIB’s own program and directory; their existence does not mean that every business in the Website Planet roundup is CCIB-certified.

Supporting a business does not have to mean buying merchandise. Depending on what the business offers, you might purchase a product, book a flight, hire a professional, or commission work. These are different transactions, so check the business’s own ordering, booking, or service information rather than assuming every listing sells online or ships internationally.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIndigenous businesses represent distinct people, nations, and communities; the roundup’s broad category label does not make their identities or work interchangeable. Use the names and affiliations as businesses present them, and confirm spelling and attribution with the business when needed.
