BDSwiss announced on March 16, 2022, that it had appointed Nicolas Shamtanis as chief executive officer. The announcement followed his arrival at the broker in September 2021, reportedly as deputy CEO.
Shamtanis was not BDSwiss’s permanent or current CEO as of the latest information available. By July 2023, industry reports described him as the company’s former CEO. BDSwiss later presented Gregory Papagregoriou and Andreas Andreou as co-CEOs.
What BDSwiss announced
BDSwiss published the appointment announcement at 11:08 GMT on March 16, 2022. The company said Shamtanis would lead its international expansion, including efforts to broaden its services and range of assets for clients in different markets.
The announcement also quoted Shamtanis discussing client experience, expansion and the importance of operating in a regulated and transparent environment. Those statements describe the company’s intended direction at the time; they do not independently demonstrate that the appointment produced specific growth or performance results.

The official announcement confirms the publication date, but it does not give a separate legal or operational effective date. It is therefore more accurate to say that BDSwiss announced his appointment on March 16, 2022, rather than to state without qualification that his appointment became effective on that date.
Shamtanis’s route to the CEO role
Shamtanis joined BDSwiss in September 2021 after about 15 years in the foreign-exchange industry, according to the BDSwiss announcement. Industry coverage identifies his initial BDSwiss position as deputy CEO before his promotion to CEO.
His previous career included senior positions at two major online trading firms:
| Period | Company and role |
|---|---|
| 2007–2018 | easyMarkets, where he held senior sales and trading roles and left as chief commercial officer |
| December 2019–2021 | Exness, initially as chief sales officer for the Asia-Pacific region in Kuala Lumpur |
| February 2020–2021 | Exness, head of B2B sales in Limassol, Cyprus |
| September 2021 onward | BDSwiss, reportedly joining as deputy CEO before becoming CEO |
BDSwiss’s own account describes the Exness period broadly as 2019 to 2021. More detailed industry reporting places his move into the head of B2B sales position in February 2020.

What the appointment meant for clients
A change of CEO can matter to customers because it may signal a change in business priorities, product coverage, geographic focus or operating approach. In this case, BDSwiss linked the appointment to international expansion and a wider selection of services and assets.
That announcement alone did not change the practical checks a prospective customer should make before opening an account. A trader should still verify:
- Which BDSwiss legal entity would hold the account.
- Whether that entity is authorised to provide the relevant products in the customer’s country.
- Which investor-protection rules, compensation arrangements and leverage limits apply.
- How spreads, commissions, overnight financing and withdrawal rules work.
- Whether the products are suitable for the customer’s risk tolerance.
These details can vary by jurisdiction and product. A CEO appointment is not evidence that an account is safe, profitable or appropriate for a particular investor.
He later left BDSwiss
Shamtanis should not be described as BDSwiss’s current CEO. The exact timing of his departure is not consistent across public reports. One report said he left quietly at the beginning of 2023, while another account based on his LinkedIn history placed the end of his BDSwiss role in October 2022.
The careful conclusion is that he was no longer CEO by mid-2023. Reports published in July 2023 described him as the former CEO of BDSwiss and said he had taken CEO positions at Netrios and RedAcre after a sabbatical.
BDSwiss subsequently referred publicly to a co-CEO structure, naming Gregory Papagregoriou and Andreas Andreou. Its corporate social responsibility page also identifies both men as co-CEOs.
As of 2026, Shamtanis’s own company website identifies him as a co-founder of Conexus IQ, a consultancy that helps with vendor selection in the fintech and CFD industries. That is separate from BDSwiss and does not identify him as a BDSwiss executive.

Why the wording matters
Older search results or copied company profiles may still describe Shamtanis as the CEO of BDSwiss without a date. That wording is now misleading. The accurate description is that BDSwiss appointed him CEO in March 2022 and that he later left the position.
It is also important not to turn the company’s stated objectives into verified results. BDSwiss said the appointment was intended to support expansion, broaden services and assets, and improve the client experience. The announcement did not establish that the company became a market leader or that customers achieved better investment outcomes.
