When did Berachain mainnet launch?

Berachain describes itself as an EVM-compatible Layer 1 built around Proof of Liquidity. In its launch-era explanation, liquidity providers earn BGT, can delegate BGT to validators, and can burn BGT for BERA; that conversion is described as one-way. Kraken describes BERA as the native token for transaction fees and validator staking, while BGT is a separate governance and reward token. Kraken’s February 5, 2025 crypto-asset statement documented a genesis supply of 500 million BERA and the following allocation:

How did the Foundation airdrop work?
The Foundation’s February 5, 2025 terms left eligibility criteria, claim timing, and individual allocations to the Foundation’s discretion. They allowed the Foundation to screen claims and disqualify participants; eligible participants were not guaranteed identical amounts. The terms also said the Foundation had no obligation to notify actual or potential participants of eligibility criteria before, during, or after claims opened. That means the published 15.8% airdrop allocation should not be read as a promise that every user—or any particular wallet—qualified. Only the official eligibility and claim process could determine an individual outcome.
The NFT eligibility route
Berachain’s NFT Bridge FAQ described checking eligibility first, bridging an eligible NFT from Ethereum to Berachain, and then claiming through the official claim site. Its warning is unambiguous: “The Berachain NFT bridge is a one-way transfer mechanism.” The FAQ adds that an NFT bridged from Ethereum cannot be transferred back to Ethereum. The FAQ’s instructions referred to the upcoming airdrop, so they establish the launch-era process rather than confirming that the same claim route remains available today. Do not bridge an NFT unless the current official instructions confirm the action and you accept that the Ethereum-side asset will not return.
How was Binance’s BERA airdrop different?
Binance’s HODLer Airdrops campaign was a separate, exchange-administered distribution—not another way to claim the Foundation’s airdrop. Binance announced it on February 5, 2025, for users with qualifying historical BNB Simple Earn balances from January 22 through January 26, 2025. Its announcement specified a 10 million BERA reward pool, equal to 2% of genesis supply, subject to KYC and geographic eligibility requirements. Binance planned BERA spot trading for February 6, 2025, and said rewards would be distributed automatically to eligible users’ Spot Accounts. Is the BERA airdrop still claimable?
Current Foundation claim availability could not be confirmed from the official claim page, and the Foundation terms do not provide a fixed public deadline. They say the Foundation determines the claim period. Do not assume claims are open—or that a launch-era link or eligibility checker still works—without verifying through Berachain’s official domain.
