EVIO has launched a development program for the EVIO 810, a planned hybrid-electric regional aircraft. The headline figure is not 450 firm orders: EVIO says it has conditional purchase agreements for 250 aircraft and options for 200 more. The sources available describe a future aircraft program, not a prototype that has already flown.
What is the EVIO 810?
The EVIO 810 is a clean-sheet aircraft concept aimed at the regional market. EVIO describes a broader 50–100-seat design family, with 76 seats in the baseline configuration. The company says it intends the aircraft to fly all-electrically on short routes and in hybrid-electric mode on longer missions. Those are planned capabilities, not demonstrated performance.
Aviation Week reports that the concept uses four nacelles, each containing a turbine engine, electric motor and battery pack. The sources do not provide independently verified range, fuel-burn, emissions or operating-cost figures for the aircraft.
Does EVIO really have 450 orders?
Not in the ordinary sense of 450 firm orders. In its December 11, 2025 launch announcement, EVIO described conditional purchase agreements covering 250 aircraft, signed in 2023 with two major airlines, plus options for another 200. The announcement does not name the airlines. An option is not the same as a firm purchase commitment, and a conditional agreement is not proof of a completed sale or delivery.

EVIO’s wording supports saying it has agreements and options for a potential total of 450 aircraft. It does not support saying 450 aircraft have been built, delivered, or ordered unconditionally.
Has the aircraft taken flight?
The program has taken flight in the figurative sense of being publicly introduced; the available sources do not report that an EVIO 810 prototype has flown. Aviation Week reported a planned first flight in 2029. That is a future target, not a completed milestone.

When could it enter service?
EVIO targets service in the early 2030s. The timeline depends on development and certification milestones that have not yet been established in the sources available here. There is no confirmed delivery schedule or certification result to treat as a guarantee.
Who is involved in the program?
- Boeing: EVIO says it benefits from Boeing investment and technical support.
- Pratt & Whitney Canada: EVIO says it is collaborating with the company on propulsion technology.
- Molicel: EVIO’s news index lists a May 21, 2026 announcement about working with Molicel on energy-storage development.
EVIO also reported opening a Dorval office in June 2026 to bring together engineering, operations, supply-chain and corporate-support functions. These announcements indicate program activity; they do not establish that the aircraft is certified or ready for airline operations.

What do EVIO’s market numbers show?
EVIO’s launch announcement makes a case for regional-aircraft demand, but its figures should be read as company estimates and projections rather than independently established market totals. The company said:
- More than 5,000 regional turboprops and jets would need replacement over the following 20 years, and projected total demand of more than 7,500 aircraft in the category over that period.
- Its analysis of data from travel data provider OAG found 47,000 regional flights per day under 500 miles. This is EVIO’s analysis, not a statistic attributed to an independently published OAG report.
- About 2,650 regional aircraft retired and about 750 new aircraft entered service over five years, which EVIO described as a 27% fleet reduction.
These numbers explain the market opportunity EVIO is pitching. They do not demonstrate that airlines will buy the EVIO 810 or that the aircraft will meet its intended economics.

What is—and is not—known about performance?
EVIO presents hybrid-electric propulsion as a way to serve short and longer regional missions, and describes its goals in terms of efficiency and passenger experience. But the available sources do not establish independently measured fuel savings, emissions reductions, noise levels, profitability, or operational performance. Nor do they establish certification, completed testing, or delivered aircraft.
For a passenger or investor, the practical distinction is between an announced design and an operating aircraft. The EVIO 810 remains a development program with future milestones; its customer commitments, technical results and entry into service should be assessed as those milestones are confirmed.
