There is no reliable public ranking of eight luxury items Donald Trump personally bought for the most money. The figures commonly attached to these assets measure different things: a company’s purchase or construction spending, a historical asset value Trump reported, or a later valuation. This list separates those measures so a price or valuation is not mistaken for personal spending.
How to read the figures
Some entries involve Trump personally, while others concern Trump Organization properties. Even where a source gives a dollar amount, it may describe an acquisition, construction expense, or estimate of value—not what Trump paid out of pocket. The sources below do not establish a strict ranking by personal spending.
Eight high-value assets associated with Trump
1. Trump Princess yacht
Trump bought the yacht from the Sultan of Brunei in 1988, according to The Atlantic. A document dated April 25, 1989, reproduced in a Roll Call/Factba.se transcript, lists “Trump Princess: $ 30,000,000.” That is a contemporaneous listed asset value, not a verified purchase price.
Former Trump casino executive Jack O’Donnell, who helped host parties aboard the yacht, described it to The Atlantic as “so gaudy. Almost shockingly gaudy. And he loved it. He thought it was the most beautiful thing out there.”

2. Mar-a-Lago’s gold-leaf interiors
Trump bought Mar-a-Lago in the 1980s. The Atlantic reported that he later put $7 million worth of gold leaf on its walls and installed gold-plated sinks near the ballroom. The $7 million figure is a reported decoration expense, not the estate’s purchase price or a separately verified accounting of its value.
3. Trump Tower triplex
A 2025 New York appellate decision says the Trump Tower apartment measured 10,996.39 square feet, based on a 1994 condominium declaration. The opinion summarizes financial-statement valuations ranging from $80 million to $327 million between 2011 and 2021, amid disputes over how the property was valued. Those figures are reported valuations; they do not establish what the apartment cost to acquire or furnish. Read the 2025 appellate decision.

4. Aberdeen, Scotland golf property and course
The New York Attorney General says the Trump Organization bought the Aberdeen property in 2006 for $12.6 million. The Washington Post later reported that the company spent at least another $50 million building the course. The first figure is an acquisition price; the second is reported construction spending. Neither should be described as a personal consumer purchase. See the Attorney General’s 2022 account and the Washington Post report.
5. Scotland and Ireland golf-course acquisitions
The Washington Post reported that Trump paid a combined $79.7 million in 2014 for large golf courses in Scotland and Ireland. In context, this was a Trump Organization cash property investment, not a personal luxury-goods purchase. The same report said the clubs lost money while renovations were underway and required $164 million in cash to keep operating; that is reported operating and renovation support, not the acquisition price.

The purchase figure and later company-reported valuation measure different things.
7. Seven Springs estate
The Trump Organization bought the 212-acre Westchester County property in 1995, according to the New York Attorney General. The Attorney General’s account lists company-reported values of $80 million in 2004, $200 million in 2007, and $291 million in 2012; a 2016 appraisal valued it at $56 million. A 2025 appellate decision also discusses disputes over valuations. These figures are not the estate’s purchase price and do not show that Trump personally spent those amounts.

Figures that do not belong in a personal luxury-spending total
- More than $400 million in cash property purchases: The Washington Post reported this as Trump Organization cash purchases of new properties over the nine years before Trump’s presidential campaign, not personal shopping. Eric Trump, who helps manage the company, said: “He had incredible cash flow and built incredible wealth. He didn’t need to think about borrowing for every transaction. We invested in ourselves.” That is the company representative’s explanation, not independent verification of personal spending.
- $13.6 million in Mar-a-Lago travel costs: The Government Accountability Office estimated that federal agencies incurred this cost for four Mar-a-Lago trips in February and March 2017. It was government travel support, not a luxury purchase by Trump. See the GAO report.
- $4.7 million in branded-watch income: The Associated Press reported this amount as income from branded watches in Trump’s latest financial disclosure. It concerns revenue from watch sales, not a watch Trump bought.
