The ranking measures estimated financial value—not on-field quality, annual revenue, squad value or a confirmed sale price. Forbes published the list on June 2, 2026; its European-club figures use the 2024–25 season, while its U.S. figures use the 2025 MLS regular season.

Forbes puts the 30 clubs’ combined estimated value at $87 billion, an average of $2.9 billion per club. The list includes 11 Premier League teams, seven MLS teams, four Serie A teams, three Bundesliga teams, two La Liga teams, and one each from Ligue 1 and Portugal’s Primeira Liga. These counts describe representation in this valuation list; they are not a ranking of league quality.
What a club’s estimated value means
Forbes defines its global soccer-team valuations as enterprise values: equity value plus net debt. It bases them on historical transactions and the future economics of each league and team. Including net debt makes this a capital-structure-neutral measure, but it does not make the estimate a confirmed price or promise that a buyer would pay that amount.

Value is different from revenue
Revenue is money generated over a period; enterprise value is an estimate of the club’s overall financial value. Forbes reports Real Madrid’s revenue at $1.265 billion and Barcelona’s at $1.063 billion for 2024–25, but those annual revenue figures are not the values used as their ranking positions. Forbes estimates Real Madrid at $9.5 billion and Barcelona at $7.5 billion in enterprise value.
What Forbes includes and excludes
Forbes says its estimates reflect stadium economics but exclude stadium real estate itself. The valuations also exclude equity stakes in other sports-related assets and mixed-use real-estate projects. Forbes excludes player trading and disposals of player registrations from revenue and operating income. For MLS, it excludes playoff games and shared league distributions.

Why the figures use different reporting periods
The 2026 ranking combines different operating periods because its European and U.S. club estimates draw on different seasons. Forbes uses estimated European-club revenue and operating income for 2024–25, rounded to the nearest $1 million, and MLS figures from the 2025 regular season. It converts revenue and operating income using average season exchange rates when needed.
Forbes says its estimates draw on annual reports and other club documents, conversations with team executives and investors, credit-rating-agency reports, sports bankers, Deloitte’s annual Football Money League report, and Swiss Ramble. The resulting values should be read as dated estimates based on those inputs, not as audited sale prices.

Why another ranking may give different values
Valuation lists can disagree without one necessarily being a correction of another. Before comparing them, check the valuation date, clubs and leagues included, currency, treatment of debt and property, financial reporting period, and whether the measure is enterprise value, equity value, brand value, revenue or squad value.
For example, Football Benchmark’s Football Clubs’ Valuation: The European Elite 2026 estimates enterprise values for 32 European clubs as of January 1, 2026, using its own methodology and available financial, sporting, operational and market data. It values Real Madrid at €7.725 billion and Barcelona at €5.918 billion. Its Europe-only scope, date and currency differ from Forbes’ global ranking, so the figures are not directly interchangeable.
