On April 2, 2026, Successful Farming’s three-part daily briefing covered overnight grain and soybean futures, U.S. ethanol production and inventories, and winter storm and ice forecasts in parts of the northern United States. The figures and forecasts below describe that dated report, not current market prices or active weather alerts.

Grain and soybean futures rose as crude oil climbed

Successful Farming reported that grain and soybean futures were moving higher overnight alongside crude oil. The article linked the market moves to President Donald Trump’s statement that Iran had requested a ceasefire and Iran’s denial, alongside its statement that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed and under its navy’s control. Those were claims and market context reported in the April 2 briefing, not independently verified here.

Its overnight market figures were:

  • WTI crude was up 8.5% and Brent crude was up 7.9%.
  • May corn gained 3¼ cents to $4.57½ per bushel.
  • May soybeans gained 3 cents to $11.71½ per bushel.
  • Soybean meal fell $1.80 to $316.40 per short ton; soybean oil gained 1.11 cents to $68.22 per pound.
  • May Chicago wheat rose 9½ cents to $6.07 per bushel, while Kansas City wheat rose 7½ cents to $6.21¼ per bushel.

These are the overnight values reported by Agriculture.com / Successful Farming on April 2, 2026, not present-day quotes. Read the April 2 briefing.

Weekly ethanol output and inventories fell

For the week ending March 27, 2026, the U.S. Energy Information Administration figures reported by Successful Farming showed average ethanol production of 1.075 million barrels per day, down from 1.116 million barrels per day the prior week. The article called this the lowest production level since January 30. Midwest production averaged 1.024 million barrels per day, compared with 1.061 million the week before.
