Aetna Medicare Advantage plans do not share one nationwide package or price. For 2026, coverage, premiums, cost sharing, provider and pharmacy networks, prescription coverage, extra benefits, and the annual out-of-pocket limit depend on the specific plan available in your county. Compare that plan’s official documents—not a general Aetna benefit description—before enrolling.
What does Aetna Medicare Advantage cover?
Medicare Advantage, also called Medicare Part C, is offered by private insurers and provides Medicare Part A and Part B benefits through a plan. Aetna’s plans are not identical: the covered services, rules for accessing care, provider networks, and costs depend on the plan and service area. Medicare’s comparison of Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage explains the program-level distinction.
Most Medicare Advantage plans include prescription drug coverage, but not all do. Confirm whether the specific Aetna plan is a Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage (often called MAPD) or a plan without Part D drug coverage (MA-only). Do not assume a drug benefit is included based only on the Aetna name or plan category. Aetna’s coverage portal provides plan-specific materials, including the Summary of Benefits and formulary.
How much does an Aetna Advantage plan cost in 2026?
There is no single Aetna Medicare Advantage premium or out-of-pocket limit that applies nationwide. Medicare says premiums and other costs—including deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance—vary by plan, as does the annual out-of-pocket limit. You must continue paying your Medicare Part B premium while enrolled in Medicare Advantage. Once you reach your plan’s applicable out-of-pocket limit, the plan pays 100% of covered health services for the rest of that calendar year. See Medicare’s cost guidance for these program-wide rules.
#1 Best Overall
The amount you actually spend can depend on more than the monthly plan premium. Consider the costs you may face for medical care and prescriptions, as well as the plan’s maximum exposure for covered health services. A low plan premium by itself does not show whether a plan will cost less for your expected care.
What extra benefits might an Aetna plan offer?
Some plan materials include resources such as an over-the-counter (OTC) catalog or an Extra Benefits Card guidebook, but availability and terms depend on the plan. Do not treat any particular extra benefit, allowance, or card as available to every Aetna member. Check the selected plan’s Summary of Benefits and Evidence of Coverage for what it offers and the conditions, limits, and exclusions that apply. Aetna’s portal lists plan-dependent resources alongside its other coverage documents: View Aetna Medicare Coverage & Benefits.

How to compare Aetna plans available in your county
Compare the exact plans open to you for the 2026 plan year. Aetna recommends evaluating benefits, costs, drug coverage, and whether providers participate in the network; its Medicare plan guidance outlines these comparison considerations.
- Identify the relevant plans. Start with your county and the 2026 plans available there. Aetna’s document portal asks you to select a plan year and location, then identify the plan and language.
- Check care access. Search the exact plan’s provider directory for your primary care clinician, specialists, hospitals, and other providers you expect to use. Provider participation can differ by plan, so confirm the plan name rather than checking only whether a provider accepts Aetna generally.
- Check prescriptions and pharmacies. Look up each medicine in the plan’s formulary. Compare the applicable tier, any coverage restrictions, and the pharmacies available to you. Aetna’s plan materials include a formulary for this purpose.
- Estimate likely costs. Review the plan premium, deductible, copayments or coinsurance for services you may need, prescription costs, and annual out-of-pocket limit. Account for the Part B premium separately.
- Review additional benefits and terms. Check the actual plan documents for covered extras, eligibility conditions, limits, exclusions, and other rules. Aetna advises reviewing the full Evidence of Coverage when comparing how a plan may fit your needs: Which Medicare plan will save the most money?
Medicare’s plan comparison resources can help you identify and compare options, but confirm the final details in the selected plan’s own documents.

Which plan documents should you verify?
For an individualized decision, match every document to the plan name, county, and 2026 plan year. Aetna’s coverage and benefits portal provides access to plan materials after you choose the year, state, county, plan, and language.
- Summary of Benefits: A concise view of covered services and cost sharing.
- Evidence of Coverage: The fuller description of coverage rules, conditions, limits, and exclusions.
- Formulary: The plan’s covered prescription drugs and applicable restrictions.
- Provider and pharmacy directories: The network listings to check against your clinicians, facilities, and pharmacy preferences.
- Annual Notice of Change: A notice of changes relevant to members moving from one plan year to another.
- Plan-specific supplemental-benefit materials: For example, an OTC catalog or Extra Benefits Card guidebook when the plan offers one.
Aetna says members may request printed copies of the Annual Notice of Change, Evidence of Coverage, and formulary. Make sure you are viewing 2026 materials: the portal may also show information for another plan year, including 2027.
