The $30,430 figure in the original headline was Mazda’s January starting MSRP for the soft-top Sport with a six-speed manual; Mazda later raised 2026 MX-5 and MX-5 RF MSRPs by $300, effective September 15, 2026. Mazda’s current pricing page lists the Sport at $30,730, Club at $34,230, and Grand Touring at $36,030.
What does the 2026 Mazda MX-5 Miata cost?
Mazda’s current U.S. starting MSRPs are:

These are manufacturer’s suggested retail prices, not out-the-door totals or guaranteed transaction prices. Mazda excludes destination and handling ($1,315, or $1,360 in Alaska), as well as taxes, title, and license fees. Options and dealer pricing can also change the amount you pay. Mazda’s official pricing release says, “Dealers set actual sale prices.” Check Mazda’s current price page for updates and buyer tools.
Why is the $30,430 figure different?
Mazda North American Operations announced the 2026 model’s original pricing on January 27, 2026. At that time, the soft-top Sport with a six-speed manual was listed at $30,430. Mazda’s newsroom archive later reported a $300 MSRP increase for all 2026 MX-5 and MX-5 RF models, effective September 15, 2026. The current $30,730 Sport starting price reflects that change. Mazda’s January pricing announcement provides the original figures; Mazda’s newsroom archive carries the subsequent price update.
How trim, roof, and transmission affect the price
Trim choice
Sport is the entry trim, Club adds sport-focused equipment, and Grand Touring adds comfort features. Mazda’s current consumer page gives starting prices by trim, but does not publish a fully revised price matrix for every roof, transmission, and package combination. The January announcement listed the original configuration-specific prices; those should not be mistaken for current prices after the September increase.

Soft top or RF
The MX-5 is offered as a soft-top roadster or as the RF retractable fastback. Mazda’s January release listed RF pricing for Club and Grand Touring, but not Sport. Roof style is one reason to compare the exact configuration rather than relying only on a trim’s starting MSRP.
Transmission
Sport and Club are six-speed-manual-only. Grand Touring is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. The original January prices for Grand Touring differed by transmission, but Mazda’s current page does not provide a complete updated configuration-by-configuration matrix.

Packages and options
In its January release, Mazda listed the Brembo/BBS/Recaro package at $5,050 on the soft-top Club and included on RF Club. Tan Nappa leather was a $300 option on Grand Touring at that time. Those are original announcement figures, not confirmation of current option pricing; check the exact vehicle and current dealer quote before budgeting.

Mazda describes the 2026 model as receiving targeted interior refinements. The powertrain remains a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder rated at 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. These specifications describe the car, but do not change the distinction between MSRP and the total amount due at purchase. Mazda’s model-year announcement lists the specifications and original packaging information.

- Start with the current trim MSRP. Use Mazda’s current page rather than the January $30,430 Sport figure when estimating the present starting price.
- Select the full configuration. Confirm trim, soft top or RF, transmission, and any package or option on the specific vehicle.
- Add excluded charges. Account for destination and handling, taxes, title, and license fees; the destination amount is $1,315 outside Alaska and $1,360 in Alaska.
- Get the dealer’s written sale price. The final quote may differ from MSRP. Verify whether it includes options, dealer-added items, and all required charges.
