No auction is identified in the available Schaltkulisse materials. Its July 2025 vehicle document says the car is available for sale at Schaltkulisse Munich and lists its price as “on application.” The dealer’s official film page also describes the black example as for sale exclusively through Schaltkulisse in Germany.
That makes this a dealer-sale listing, not a published auction announcement. The cited listing does not provide an asking figure, and the materials do not establish the car’s present availability. Buyers should ask the dealer directly for current status, price, and transaction terms.
What does Schaltkulisse report about its car?
The seller describes this example as a European-delivery 2009 SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, finished in black with a red-and-black leather interior inspired by the 300 SLR. Its July 2025 document reports:

These are seller-reported details; the listing document does not include an independent inspection report. Schaltkulisse calls the color combination extremely rare and says it believes only three cars were finished in black with a red interior. That is the seller’s belief, not a verified production-register count.
What makes the SLR Stirling Moss distinctive?
Mercedes-Benz USA Public Relations presented the Stirling Moss as the final chapter of the SLR family: a modern speedster inspired by the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR. The December 2008 information describes a design with neither roof nor windscreen and says the car could be acquired only by existing SLR customers. It set production at 75 cars between June and December 2009. The period manufacturer information calls the experience “unadulterated high-speed excitement.”

The same 2008 manufacturer source published output of 650 hp (478 kW), acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds, a 350 km/h (217 mph) top speed, and a launch price of €750,000. These are period manufacturer figures, not current measurements or a present-day asking price.
What have other SLR Stirling Moss cars sold for?
Public auction records provide useful transaction context, but they involve different cars and do not establish the value of Schaltkulisse’s example.

The results differ in currency, date, geography, mileage, condition, service history, specification, and transaction circumstances. They are individual auction outcomes, not a market average or a direct valuation of the black Schaltkulisse car. Mileage alone cannot explain the difference between a specific car’s asking price and another car’s auction result.

RM Sotheby’s catalogues give slightly different specifications from the original Mercedes-Benz USA PR information. The Paris 2026 lot record reports 641 hp, 0–100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 354 km/h. The December 2008 manufacturer information instead published 650 hp, less than 3.5 seconds, and 350 km/h. These are figures stated by separate sources; they should not be blended into a single specification.

For a purchase decision, the more consequential missing information in the Schaltkulisse document is vehicle-specific verification: an independent condition assessment, the status of the original tires, service records, and confirmation of current mileage and ownership documentation. The cited document does not supply those independent checks.
