More importantly, the page does not publish the dated prices, sale counts, or calculations needed to verify the ranking. Treat it as a list of candidates to investigate—not a proven ranking of the market’s biggest gainers.
CarCody’s 16 ranked slots, with the duplicate identified
The following is the order in CarCody’s article, not an independently verified appreciation ranking. Its #4 and #12 entries are both the Lexus LFA. Confirm the model year, variant, market, and specification before comparing any example: names and equipment can differ by market and trim. CarCody’s original list

How much confidence should you put in the ranking?
CarCody says it considered auction results, valuation guides, insurance replacement data, dealer asking trends, percentage appreciation, and condition and specification. It also describes weighting the period after 2019 and considering a 10–15-year horizon. But the article does not provide model-by-model dated values, transaction counts, calculation details, or supporting citations for each car. Those descriptions are the publisher’s account of its method; without the underlying figures, readers cannot reproduce the order or determine which model gained the most.
That matters because an asking price is not a completed sale, a rare car may have very few comparable transactions, and a valuation can refer to a different condition or specification. A ranked list can be a useful prompt for research, but it cannot establish that every car listed rose in value over the same period or by a comparable amount.

What recent market evidence says—and what it does not
Hagerty UK reported that nearly 80 percent of the values in its UK Price Guide either fell or stayed static during 2025. Compared with December 2024, its Hot Hatch and RADwood indices were the only indices showing meaningful growth; its Classic and Best of British indices were down. This points to a segmented UK market, not a conclusion about every country or any particular car in CarCody’s list. Hagerty UK’s 2025 market analysis
Hagerty UK says its guide tracks more than 3,000 models and is updated quarterly. For each car, it shows four values, from “fair” to “concours,” informed by insured values, public and dealer sales, and other data. A quote is meaningful only when its condition category and source are understood; a concours valuation cannot be compared directly with a fair-condition sale.

Forecasts should also be kept separate from realized price changes. Hagerty’s UK 2026 Bull Market list says its choices are not necessarily cars that will soar in value; the stated goal is to identify a combination of value for money and driveability. Its article says data were correct as of January 11, 2026. Hagerty separately announced a U.S. 2026 list of 11 vehicles it anticipated might increase in value. These are forward-looking selections, not evidence that those gains occurred or confirmation of CarCody’s ranking. Hagerty UK’s 2026 Bull Market list · Hagerty’s U.S. 2026 Bull Market list
How to check whether a collector car is appreciating
Before treating a price claim as evidence of a trend, make the comparisons like-for-like:

- Illustrated assembly instructions. Requires paint and glue. (not included)
- Specify the car. Record model year, exact variant, transmission, market, and relevant specification. Similar names can cover materially different cars.
- Use completed sales. Compare transaction prices with transaction prices, not auction results with dealer asking prices. Keep geography and currency consistent.
- Match condition. Note mileage, originality, provenance, restoration, and condition category. A high-end example does not establish the value of an ordinary one.
- Set a clear time period. Record start and end dates and distinguish nominal price movement from inflation-adjusted change.
- Check the sample size. For a rarely traded car, state how many comparable sales underpin the conclusion. A handful of unusual transactions may not establish a reliable trend.
- Separate market value from ownership economics. Storage, maintenance, insurance, and selling costs affect an owner’s result, as does whether a quoted valuation can actually be realized in a sale.
Hagerty describes its valuation tools and related market information on its valuation-tools page. Use any guide as a reference point, then check comparable completed sales and the condition assumptions behind the figure.

The named cars may be worth monitoring if they fit a reader’s interests, but the evidence available in CarCody’s article does not establish their relative appreciation rates. Nor does a rising quoted value make a car a safe investment: the cited market material does not quantify ownership costs or guarantee a sale at a guide price. Treat the list as a set of leads, and make any purchase decision on the specific car, verified transaction evidence, and your ability to absorb the costs and risks.
