Armored cars do not have one standard price: the cost depends on the vehicle, protection specification and custom options. Current US-listed examples from Alpine Armoring range from $180,000 for an armored Chevrolet Suburban at the low end of its quoted range to $770,000 for a Mercedes-Maybach at the high end. Those figures are estimates, not guaranteed prices or proof that a particular vehicle is in stock. “Armored” or “bullet-resistant” is more precise than “bulletproof”: protection applies to a specified build, threat and test.
Why this is not a verified list of 15 cars you can buy right now
There is not enough current, comparable evidence to name 15 specific models, confirm that each is available now, and give each a reliable price. A builder’s list of possible vehicle platforms is not the same as a live inventory list or independent proof that every model-year configuration has a particular protection rating.
The prices below are examples Alpine Armoring lists on its US website. The page does not display a publication date; “2026” identifies the year the figures were checked, not a dated price study. Treat them as starting points for a specialist quote, and confirm the vehicle, market, model year, protection level and what the quoted build includes.
How much does an armored car cost?
Alpine Armoring’s current listed estimates are in US dollars. The source presents them as prices for armored vehicles, but does not specify a single model year or a uniform build configuration for each range, so the figures are not directly comparable quotes for identical specifications.

Alpine separately lists A4 protection at $140,000–$180,000 and A9 protection at $200,000–$580,000. These are the company’s quoted protection-cost ranges, not universal price bands; the page does not establish that they are an all-in vehicle price. Ask whether a quote covers the donor vehicle, conversion, taxes, delivery and any selected options.
Alpine also says used armored vehicles can save $100,000–$400,000. That is the company’s general claim, not a guaranteed saving for a particular make, age, condition or protection specification. Compare a used vehicle’s documented history and condition with a new-build quote before treating the difference as a saving.

Factory-armored cars and aftermarket conversions are different purchases
Factory-integrated protection
A factory-armored model is designed and built as a protected vehicle by the manufacturer. BMW’s February 2024 India release says its 7 Series Protection is classified VR9 under VPAM criteria. BMW says certification draws on VPAM BRV ballistic-resistance and VPAM ERV and PAS 300 blast-resistance guidelines. The classification belongs to that model and the stated criteria; it does not mean every armored sedan, or every vehicle called “VR9” by another source, offers identical protection.
BMW describes a protective core, protection-spec doors, underbody armor, safety glass and PAX run-flat tires. Its release characterizes the car as protection for at-risk individuals from firearms or explosives, but that manufacturer statement should not be extended to other models or treated as a promise of protection against every weapon or attack.

BMW’s 2023 Middle East release says both the combustion 7 Series Protection and electric i7 Protection meet VR9 requirements. In that release, BMW said the i7 Protection was offered exclusively in Europe. That is a regional statement from 2023, not confirmation of current availability; check the relevant BMW market and model-year listing.
Specialist aftermarket conversion
An aftermarket specialist converts a chosen vehicle platform to a specified protection build. Alpine Armoring lists platforms including the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, BMW XM, Escalade ESV, Suburban, Range Rover, G-Class, GMC Yukon XL and Ford F-350. This is a builder’s platform list, not proof that every exact configuration is currently offered, independently certified or available to order in your location.

Do not assume that a conversion’s rating is interchangeable with a factory model’s classification. Ask who tested the complete vehicle, which standard and threat were used, and whether the documents apply to the exact configuration being offered. Armor can involve more than visible glass: BMW’s description of its 7 Series Protection, for example, includes the vehicle’s protective core, doors, underbody and run-flat tires.

- Protection and test: Get the named standard, rating, defined threat and test documentation for the exact vehicle. Ask whether certification or test results cover the complete vehicle or only components.
- Build and price: Confirm currency, country, model year, donor vehicle, conversion work and options included. Request an itemized quote so you can distinguish vehicle cost from protection and custom features.
- Fit for use: Choose between a sedan, SUV or pickup based on passenger and cargo needs. Verify the specific vehicle’s usable space and operating requirements with the seller rather than assuming an unarmored model’s specifications carry over unchanged.
- Ownership support: Ask about servicing, parts, warranty coverage and who will support the vehicle locally. These terms can differ between a manufacturer-backed build and a specialist conversion.
- Availability and history: Confirm current inventory or lead time directly. For a used vehicle, request its documented history and verify the protection specification and condition independently.
Where to look for factory-armored vehicles
RECA Guard says its specialist trade deals exclusively in factory-armored vehicles, including Mercedes-Benz Guard, BMW Protection and Audi Security, and offers purchase, sale and trade-in services. The company also says its inspected used vehicles have documented histories. These are dealer statements, not confirmation that a particular car is in stock or that its records and certification have been independently checked. Verify the specific vehicle, documents and inventory before buying.

For either a dealer or a conversion builder, ask for the exact vehicle identification, build specification, applicable test or certification documents, written price and after-sales terms. A model name or a protection label alone is not enough to establish what a particular car includes.
