Among the options with current feature information available, TradingView suits chart-led practice, thinkorswim paperMoney provides a Schwab platform preview, Webull PaperTrade advertises practice with stocks, ETFs and options on its Europe page, and StockTrak is designed for individual and educational use. Interactive Brokers and Moomoo are also worth comparing, but verify their current simulator details with the providers.

Which simulator fits your goal?
For learning to read charts
TradingView is the clearest fit when you want to place hypothetical orders alongside charts. Its paper-trading feature is separate from Bar Replay, which lets you examine historical price action, and strategy reports, which serve a different analysis purpose. Choose the mode that matches what you are trying to learn: hypothetical trading is not the same as replaying past bars or reviewing a strategy report.

For getting comfortable with a broker’s interface
thinkorswim paperMoney lets eligible users practise within Schwab’s thinkorswim platform using hypothetical funds. This can help you learn the interface and order workflow, but it cannot establish how you will perform with real money.
For practising options or a broader range of assets
Webull’s Europe page explicitly lists stocks, ETFs and options for its simulation. StockTrak describes a wider range of asset classes and configurable exchange and contest settings, making it a candidate when a class or organized exercise needs more than stock-only practice. In either case, confirm that the simulated account supports the particular securities and order strategies you intend to use.

How to choose a paper trading app
- Set a learning objective. Decide whether you need chart practice, order-entry familiarity, options or multi-asset exposure, or an instructor-managed contest. A simulator that matches the exercise is more useful than one chosen for a large virtual balance.
- Check simulated asset coverage. Verify that the paper account—not just the live brokerage—supports the securities and strategies you want to practise. A provider’s live-market offering does not prove identical simulator coverage.
- Find out how quotes and fills work. Check whether quotes are live or delayed and how simulated orders are filled. A simulated execution is an approximation, not proof that a live order would fill at the same price or in the same way.
- Compare the tools you will use. Look for confirmed support for the order types, charts, indicators, watchlists, risk controls and portfolio reports relevant to your practice. Do not assume every feature in a live platform appears in its simulator.
- Confirm access requirements. Check country eligibility, registration or brokerage-account requirements, and whether the tools you need are available on mobile, desktop or web in your region.
- Check the learning format and terms. Individual practice and managed classroom or contest services can have different access rules and costs. Confirm current terms directly with the provider before committing.
What a simulator can—and cannot—teach
Paper trading gives you a way to practise with hypothetical funds rather than placing real-money trades. It can help you learn platform controls, work through an investing or trading plan, and observe how your decisions would have played out within that simulator’s rules.

It does not reproduce every pressure or constraint of a live account. Simulated fills, available instruments and market data may differ from live trading, and hypothetical results do not show that a strategy will be profitable. Schwab’s paperMoney disclosure puts the limitation plainly: “Simulated performance does not ensure success in a live environment.”
