Point Investment Group Review: A Scam or Legit Broker?

Point Investment Group should not be treated as a legitimate broker. Spain’s securities regulator, the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV), warned on April 23, 2018 that pointinvestmentgroup.com, Bali Limited Ltd, and Winmore Alliance were not registered or authorized to provide investment services in Spain.

The warning is the strongest direct evidence available about the brand. It does not, by itself, prove that a court convicted the operator of fraud. But an investment firm publicly identified by a securities regulator as unauthorized is not a safe place to deposit money.

Point Investment Group: the key findings

Question Finding
Is Point Investment Group authorized in Spain? No. The CNMV said the entities associated with the brand were not entered in its register and were not authorized to provide investment services in Spain.
When was the warning issued? April 23, 2018.
Which entities did the CNMV name? Bali Limited Ltd, Winmore Alliance, and pointinvestmentgroup.com.
Is the website still operating? Recent third-party checks reported it as inactive or unreachable. That is not the same as proof that the company has legally closed.
Was Point Investment Group placed on the CFTC RED List? Not directly based on the evidence reviewed. The CFTC listed Wellington INV/Bali Limited LTD, not Point Investment Group or its domain.

What the CNMV warning means

The CNMV is Spain’s securities-market regulator. Its warning stated that Bali Limited Ltd, Winmore Alliance, and the Point Investment Group domain were not registered with the regulator and were not authorized to offer investment services in Spain.

The CNMV also linked the domain to other websites it had previously warned about, including:

  • GBOCapital.com
  • EasyLinePro.com
  • StocksCall.com
  • ClickBanca.es

This does not establish that every linked business was operated by the same people, nor does it amount to a criminal judgment. It does establish a serious regulatory problem: customers were being offered investment services by an entity that the relevant regulator said was not authorized to provide them.

You can read the CNMV warning directly.

Was Bali Limited connected to Point Investment Group?

The official CNMV notice directly connects the Point Investment Group domain with Bali Limited Ltd and Winmore Alliance. That is more reliable than repeating an unverified corporate profile from a broker-review website.

Online sources have offered conflicting descriptions of the operator. An older 2018 review identified the brand with Bali Limited Ltd and described the company as being based in Sofia, Bulgaria. A later review claimed that Point Investment Group was a trading name of Mountain High Ltd, registered in the Marshall Islands, while also mentioning Bali Limited and Winmore Alliance.

That later corporate claim should be treated as an attributed report, not as a settled fact. A registration in the Marshall Islands—or anywhere else—would not automatically mean the firm was authorized to offer forex or CFD services. Company formation and financial-services authorization are different things.

What about the CFTC RED List?

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) added Wellington INV/Bali Limited LTD to its RED List on July 16, 2020. The CFTC said the entity appeared to require registration for its over-the-counter foreign-exchange activity but was not registered, and that it solicited or accepted U.S. customers.

This is relevant because Bali Limited Ltd was named in the CNMV warning alongside Point Investment Group. However, it would be inaccurate to say that the CFTC specifically placed Point Investment Group or pointinvestmentgroup.com on the RED List. The CFTC entry names Wellington INV/Bali Limited LTD.

Historical account terms and platform reports

A 2018 broker review described the terms it observed at the time. Those details are historical and should not be mistaken for current offers:

Reported item Historical observation
Platform A web-based trading platform rather than MetaTrader 4
Maximum leverage Reported as high as 1:200
Minimum deposit Reported at $500 for a Mini account
Account tiers Mini, Bronze, and Silver were reportedly offered
Higher-tier deposits Some advertised tiers reportedly required more than $100,000
Pricing disclosure Spreads and other trading conditions were reportedly not clearly disclosed

The same review described apparent bid-and-ask price irregularities on the web platform. That is a historical reviewer observation—not proof that every customer experienced the same issue, and not evidence that the platform is still available.

High leverage, unclear spreads, large minimum deposits, and an opaque web platform would be significant risk factors even if the firm had been regulated. Combined with the CNMV warning, they provide no sensible reason to fund an account.

Is Point Investment Group still operating?

A broker-review page updated January 26, 2025, reported that pointinvestmentgroup.com was inactive and unavailable. A separate domain-status service reported no DNS resolution during a check dated February 12, 2026, and said its June 12, 2024 lookup found no matching WHOIS record.

These are technical observations from third-party websites, not an official declaration that the business has been dissolved. The careful conclusion is that the website has been reported as inactive or unreachable in recent checks. There is no verified evidence that it is merely undergoing temporary maintenance or that it will reopen.

Scam, unauthorized broker, or legitimate firm?

The most defensible classification is unauthorized and unsafe broker.

It is important to use precise language. The available evidence confirms a regulator’s warning about unauthorized investment services. The sources reviewed do not establish a criminal conviction or a court judgment specifically finding that Point Investment Group committed fraud. Calling it “court-proven fraud” would go beyond the evidence.

That distinction does not make the firm acceptable. Investors do not need to wait for a criminal conviction before avoiding an unregistered broker. A regulated firm should be independently verifiable through the relevant regulator’s register, with a legal entity, contact details, and permissions that match the services being offered.

The CFTC advises investors to check registration independently through resources such as the NFA BASIC database rather than relying on a broker’s website or sales representative. The same principle applies in other countries: search the regulator’s own register, not just the firm’s claimed license number.

What to do if you deposited money

  1. Do not send more money. Do not pay alleged taxes, release charges, withdrawal fees, insurance fees, account-verification fees, or other demands intended to unlock your balance.
  2. Save evidence. Keep account statements, payment receipts, bank details, wallet addresses, emails, phone numbers, chat messages, screenshots, and copies of identification documents you submitted.
  3. Contact the payment provider immediately. Ask your bank, card issuer, wire-transfer service, or cryptocurrency exchange whether a recall, chargeback, fraud report, or transaction freeze is possible. Recovery is not guaranteed, but delay can reduce your options.
  4. Secure your accounts. Change passwords if you shared them, enable two-factor authentication, and contact your email provider and bank if the broker had access to sensitive information.
  5. Report the matter. Contact your national financial regulator, local police or cybercrime unit, and the relevant payment provider. Spain’s CNMV and the U.S. CFTC are useful contacts where their jurisdictions apply.
  6. Be cautious of recovery scammers. People who promise to recover your investment for an upfront fee may be targeting victims of the original scheme.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission identifies demands for additional money before releasing supposed investment profits as a common investment-scam pattern. Its investment-scam guidance includes reporting and prevention advice.

How to check a broker before depositing

  1. Find the broker’s exact legal entity, not just its brand name.
  2. Open the regulator’s official register yourself. Do not use a link supplied only by the broker.
  3. Confirm that the authorization covers the products offered—forex, CFDs, securities, or crypto services may require different permissions.
  4. Check that the website domain, company name, phone number, and address match the regulator’s record.
  5. Search the regulator’s warning list for both the brand and the legal entity.
  6. Be wary of pressure to deposit quickly, guaranteed returns, unusually high leverage, unclear spreads, or payments to personal accounts and cryptocurrency wallets.
  7. Test the withdrawal process before committing substantial funds, while remembering that a small successful withdrawal does not prove legitimacy.

Final verdict

Point Investment Group fails the basic test for a safe broker. The CNMV officially warned in 2018 that the brand’s domain and associated entities were not authorized to provide investment services in Spain. Conflicting reports about the corporate operator, a later CFTC warning involving Bali Limited under a related name, and recent reports that the website is inactive add to the uncertainty rather than resolve it.

Verdict: avoid Point Investment Group and do not deposit funds.

Was Point Investment Group on the CFTC RED List?

The CFTC RED List entry reviewed here names Wellington INV/Bali Limited LTD, not Point Investment Group or pointinvestmentgroup.com. It is therefore inaccurate to describe the CFTC action as a direct listing of Point Investment Group.

Is Point Investment Group still operating?

Recent third-party checks reported that the website was inactive or unreachable. Those checks do not prove that the company was legally dissolved or that it will never return.

Can I recover money sent to Point Investment Group?

Recovery is uncertain, but contact your bank, card issuer, wire service, or cryptocurrency exchange immediately to ask about a recall, chargeback, or fraud investigation. Preserve all transaction and communication records and report the matter to the appropriate authorities.

Should I pay a fee to withdraw my Point Investment Group balance?

Do not send additional money for supposed taxes, release charges, insurance, verification, or withdrawal fees without independently verifying the claim. Requests for more money before releasing investment profits are a common scam pattern.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Point Investment Group should be treated as an unauthorized and unsafe broker. The CNMV’s April 23, 2018 warning is the decisive finding: the entities associated with the brand were not authorized to provide investment services in Spain. Do not deposit money, and if you have already paid, stop sending funds and contact your payment provider and financial regulator promptly.
