There is no verified, objective ranking of the worst celebrity tippers. The stories below are allegations drawn largely from anonymous accounts and online submissions, not documented records of transactions. They offer a glimpse of what people have claimed about celebrity tipping—not proof of a person’s habits.
Why these stories are allegations, not an all-time ranking
The available accounts come from reader-submission compilations and an archived newspaper report. BuzzFeed cautions readers that it cannot guarantee the accuracy, truth, or validity of the submitted stories; its earlier compilations likewise say the publishers were not present to verify the encounters. None of the accounts below is independently corroborated in the cited material, and the named celebrities’ responses are not established there.
The anecdotes also do not measure the same thing. They range from alleged no-tips to small flat amounts, a disputed charge, and claims about demeanor. Only one account supplies both a bill and a tip amount, so calculating or comparing tip percentages across the list would be misleading. Some stories refer to decades-old encounters; others have no date. The order below is not a ranking.
Celebrity tipping stories and what was reported
Jennifer Lopez
A December 2025 BuzzFeed compilation published two separate accounts. In one, an anonymous submitter said a friend served Lopez shortly after she became famous. The submitter alleged that Lopez and her entourage kept the server busy for more than three hours and left no tip. A different anonymous account in the same compilation alleged that Ben Affleck placed a $100 chip on a server’s tray and Lopez replaced it with a $5 chip. The account does not establish independent corroboration, and it should not be treated as confirmation of the separate no-tip story: the same BuzzFeed compilation.
Kurt Russell
An anonymous server told a February 2026 BuzzFeed compilation that they had waited on Russell at a breakfast restaurant in Santa Monica’s mountains. The submitter said the bill for two was between $150 and $250 and alleged that Russell “never left more than two bucks.” The encounters were not dated in the account, and no independent confirmation is provided: BuzzFeed’s February 2026 compilation.

A person identifying as a manager and sommelier submitted a Reddit account reproduced in a September 2026 BuzzFeed article. The submitter alleged that a server received a single $20 cash tip on a $4,200 tab. Drake
A separate Reddit-submitted account in the same September 2026 article alleged that Drake disputed a room fee after keeping a restaurant open four hours beyond closing, eventually paid the charge, and left no tip.
