Highest-paid NFL kickers by contract AAV
The table ranks the ten kickers in AS USA’s August 22, 2026 report by the reported average annual value of their current contracts. Team names are those listed in that report.

AS USA’s August ranking supplies the ten entries and the displayed figures in the table. Sporting News published a ranking on May 11 that corroborates the top nine, but it predates the August report and rounds some values. Over The Cap’s contract listings provide an additional check; their cap-number and cash-spent figures are different measures and are not used here as AAV. AS USA, Sporting News, and Over The Cap publish the relevant ranking and contract data.
What AAV tells you—and what it does not
Average annual value is the contract’s total value divided by its number of years, as represented by the reported current contract average. It is useful for comparing deals of different lengths, but it does not tell you what a player will actually receive in a particular season.

- Season cash: Money paid to the player in a particular season.
- Salary-cap charge: The amount counted against the team’s cap in a season.
- Guarantees: Contract money protected under the reported guarantee terms.
Those measures can differ substantially. So “highest-paid” in this ranking means highest reported contract AAV, not necessarily highest cash paid or largest cap hit in 2026.
How the top contracts compare
Aubrey and Boswell share first place
Brandon Aubrey and Chris Boswell each agreed to a four-year, $28 million extension in 2026, which works out to $7 million per year and puts them level at the top. AS USA reports $20 million guaranteed for Aubrey. For Boswell, AS USA reports $10.5 million fully guaranteed and $14.7 million in total guarantees, citing Over The Cap for those guarantee details.

Fairbairn is third in the later ranking
AS USA’s August ranking lists Ka’imi Fairbairn at $6.64 million in AAV. Sporting News’s May 11 report described his two-year, $13 million extension as $6.5 million per year, while Over The Cap’s contract table also reports $6.64 million. The August figure is used for this ranking; the available reports present different annual-value figures, and those figures are not reconciled here.
How far the top contracts sit above the reported average
AS USA calculated an average of approximately $3.01 million per year for the current contract AAVs of primary kickers across all 32 teams. That is the outlet’s calculation, not an official NFL statistic. In the same report, nine kickers have deals worth at least $5 million annually and four exceed $6 million.

Performance context behind kicker contracts
Contract value is not a performance ranking. Sporting News points to accuracy and attempts from beyond 50 yards as important measures, while range and performance in pressure situations can help distinguish kickers. For context, AS USA reports that Aubrey made 35 of 44 attempts from at least 50 yards through his first three NFL seasons, and converted all 25 of his field-goal attempts from inside 50 yards in 2025. Those figures describe reported performance; they do not change the AAV order.
