Sometimes—but the case depends on what the SUV gives you beyond a high price. The available 2026 U.S. figures support a useful comparison of four configurations from Cadillac and Lucid, not a verified list of ten current SUVs. Here’s what those four offer, what their published numbers do—and don’t—prove, and how to decide whether the price makes sense for your needs.
Four configurations worth comparing—and what the figures mean
The comparison below uses Cadillac’s 2026 Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL product pages and Lucid’s Gravity announcements. Prices are starting prices where stated; the sources do not establish whether destination is included. Range figures are estimates, not guaranteed real-world driving distances.

These are not directly interchangeable range claims. Cadillac labels its figures as manufacturer estimates; Lucid identifies its Gravity figures as EPA estimates, and the Grand Touring figure applies only to the specified wheels and five-seat setup. Nor does a starting price tell you the final price of a vehicle configured with options.
When the Escalade IQ or IQL may justify its price
Escalade IQ: a full-size luxury experience with a long estimated range
The IQ’s strongest evidence-based case is the combination of Cadillac’s 465-mile estimate and substantial listed equipment. A buyer who values a large display, a premium audio system and a full-size SUV format may see more value here than in a smaller EV with a longer feature checklist on paper. The $127,405 starting price is substantial, so it makes most sense for someone who will use the space and equipment regularly rather than pay for the badge or maximum range alone.

Escalade IQL: choose it for the additional passenger and cargo room
The IQL’s case is not that it beats the IQ on range: Cadillac’s estimate is five miles lower. Its distinct advantage in the cited details is the longer body and the extra room Cadillac describes in the third row and behind it. That makes it the more relevant one to investigate if adults will regularly use the rearmost seats or you need cargo space while those seats are occupied. The cited product page does not provide a price here, so the value judgment depends on checking the current price difference and configuration before buying.
When a Lucid Gravity may make more sense
Gravity Grand Touring: performance and range, with a configuration caveat
Lucid reports up to 828 hp for the Grand Touring and up to 450 miles of EPA-estimated range in a specific two-row, five-seat configuration with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Those details may appeal to a buyer prioritizing high output and a long published range. But the cited announcement does not provide a price, and its five-seat range configuration should not be treated as the range for every seating or wheel setup. Get a current quote and confirm the exact configuration before comparing it with a three-row SUV.

Gravity Touring: the lower published starting price, with less estimated range
The Touring has a $79,900 starting price and up to 337 miles of EPA-estimated range in Lucid’s announcement. That is a materially lower published starting price than the Escalade IQ Luxury’s, but it is not a like-for-like total-cost comparison: destination treatment is not stated for either figure, and the cited information does not establish equivalent size, seating, equipment or configuration. Consider the Touring if its price and range fit your intended use; don’t assume it offers the Grand Touring’s range or performance.

BMW iX, Volvo EX90, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and Rivian R1S appear in a 2026 buying-guide extract reproduced by the City of Crestview, but its trim and column context is incomplete. Car and Driver’s 2026 range ranking also includes the Escalade IQ/IQL, Rivian R1S and Lucid Gravity; it describes the Gravity as having a maximum estimated 450-mile range, but that general cross-check does not replace trim- and configuration-specific data. The official Mercedes-Benz USA EQS SUV page describes route-planning and active range-monitoring features, but the cited result does not establish a usable current U.S. starting price or range. These are reasonable vehicles to investigate, not enough to support a fair ten-SUV ranking here.

How to decide whether an expensive electric SUV is worth it to you
- Set a real price ceiling. Compare current, configured prices—not just starting figures—and confirm destination, options and the exact trim with the seller.
- Match the range claim to the vehicle you would buy. Record whether the number is EPA-estimated or manufacturer-estimated, then verify the wheels, seating layout and trim that qualify for it. Don’t transfer one version’s figure to another.
- Test the seats and cargo space in your actual use case. If you need a third row, bring the people who will use it. Check the space behind that row with it in place; a vehicle’s overall length does not by itself establish usable passenger or luggage room.
- Decide which premium features you would pay to use. A powerful drivetrain, large display or high-end audio system can help explain a price only if those features matter to your regular driving. Separate listed equipment from options on the configuration you are considering.
- Check charging and trip-planning details for your routes. The Escalade IQ page lists an 11.5 kW AC onboard charging module, while Mercedes describes route-planning and active range-monitoring features for the EQS SUV. Those are different kinds of information; neither alone establishes a real-world charge time or proves that a particular route will work for you.
- Compare the complete ownership proposition. Consider the vehicle’s usable room, comfort, performance, equipment, charging access and price together. A high range estimate or impressive specification cannot establish value for every buyer.
