Available reporting says at least 37 of the 92 competing countries and territories offered cash bonuses, but the accessible data does not establish an ordered top 10. France’s official schedule is clear: €80,000 for gold, €40,000 for silver and €20,000 for bronze, subject to rules that affect team-event payments. These are nominal award amounts, not a cross-country ranking.
What counts as a Winter Olympic winners’ incentive?
For a fair comparison, a winners’ incentive should mean a cash award guaranteed for earning a medal at a named Games edition. That is narrower than the general term “incentives,” which can also cover qualification funding, recurring athlete support, tax treatment, military-service benefits or payments to coaches.
The International Olympic Committee does not set one universal cash bonus for every medal-winning athlete. National governments, Olympic committees and sometimes other organizations set their own programs. Amounts and eligibility rules can change between Games, so a figure needs to be tied to a particular edition.
- Guaranteed medal award: cash payable for a medal under published rules.
- Conditional support: funding intended to help an athlete qualify or prepare, which may depend on prior results, selection or continued training.
- Other benefits: stipends, tax treatment, service-related benefits or awards to coaches. These should not be added to a cash-medal ranking unless separately valued and clearly labeled.
Why a definitive top 10 cannot be established from the available figures
A Forbes report dated February 6, 2026, says at least 37 of the 92 countries and territories competing at Milano Cortina offered cash bonuses. Its headline identifies 13 countries that would pay Winter Olympic gold medallists $100,000 or more, but the accessible report information does not provide the full list or terms needed to rank them. Forbes’ 2026 report therefore supports a threshold finding, not a verified top 10.

- REAL GLASS FRONT – Premium Clarity That Lasts Unlike most medal display frames on Amazon that use cheap acrylic or plastic, which scratch easily and become cloudy over time, this shadow box features a genuine glass front. Glass delivers superior optical clarity, letting every detail of your medals—engravings, ribbon textures, and metal finishes—shine through with zero distortion. It won’t yellow or haze after months of sunlight exposure, and the hard surface resists everyday scratches from dusting. While acrylic competitors look good out of the box but degrade quickly, real glass maintains a museum-grade appearance year after year. Easy to clean with a soft cloth.
- 4.5CM DEEP FRAME WITH WHITE MAT – Fits More Than You Think Standard photo frames are too shallow for medals, but this 5*7 inches shadow box offers 4.5cm interior depth—enough to hold medals naturally, including Olympic-style medals with thick ribbons. The extra included white mat adds a professional, gallery-quality touch while serving as a clean backing for DIY projects.
- 3-WAY VERSATILE DISPLAY – Wall, Table, or Freestanding Most medal frames force you to choose between hanging or sitting—this medal display case gives you all three. Use the pre-installed hanging hook for secure wall mounting in an entryway or home gym. Prefer a desk display? The built-in collapsible easel stand props the frame upright on any flat surface. You can also lay it flat or orient it horizontally or vertically to match your space. Whether you are an athlete showcasing race medals, a veteran displaying service awards, or a crafter making a gift, this 3-way versatility means one frame serves every need.
- DIY CRAFT READY – Create Personalized Memorabilia Displays This is not just a medal display holder—it is a blank canvas for creativity. The removable white mat can be used as a pinning surface for mounting medals, and small memorabilia. For advanced crafters, remove the mat to access the full 4.5cm depth for layering photos, ticket stubs, pressed flowers, handwritten notes, and other flat keepsakes alongside medals. Create themed shadow boxes for marathon seasons, military service, graduations, or team gifts. The possibilities are endless—from scrapbooking to collage art. Whether you are experienced or a first-timer, this frame gives you the space and structure to turn memories into art.
- The rear panel is secured with durable hardware, and the easel stand is reinforced to support a fully loaded display without sagging. The glass front is held by strong retained, not only cheap adhesive strips. Every component—glass, mat, backing board—is selected for longevity. This is a frame you will use for years, not a disposable product that ends up in a landfill after one season.
WBAL/Get the Facts says its 2026 team contacted all 92 participating nations and territories, drew on more than 30 responses plus public information, and published a comparison covering 35 places. Its report describes a span from nearly $800,000 in Singapore to zero in some European countries. The accessible text does not include the full country-by-country schedule, and it cautions that prizes can vary by event type and number of competitors. Those figures cannot support a complete ordered ranking without the underlying schedule and consistent rules for individual and team events. Read WBAL/Get the Facts’ comparison and methodology.
A sound ranking would need, for every country or territory, the original-currency award, payer, source and date; whether an amount is per athlete or shared; whether multiple medals stack; and the relevant eligibility and tax conditions. It would also need a common currency conversion date. The available figures do not establish all of that for a top-10 comparison.

The legal order adopted in 2025 sets out how the awards apply. For team events, the relevant amount is divided among the rewarded athletes and guides; a team member should not assume they receive the full individual-event amount. The rules also address calculation when an athlete earns multiple medals in a discipline. The French legal order, in force from November 9, 2025, is the source for those details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why Australia’s funding is not the same as a medal bonus
The Australian Olympic Committee’s Milano Cortina 2026 guidelines describe Medal Incentive Funding of A$20,000 for gold, A$15,000 for silver and A$10,000 for bronze. Those amounts are tied to qualifying results in earlier Olympic or benchmark competitions and are intended to help athletes gain selection and win medals. Continued training and selection factors apply, the funding is discretionary, and multiple medals do not produce stacked funding. It is therefore not a guaranteed post-Games award for a medal newly won at Milano Cortina 2026. See the AOC’s 2026-cycle funding guidelines.

How to compare medal awards responsibly
When a country-by-country schedule is available, compare the same kind of payment across the same Games edition. A useful narrow measure is the guaranteed, per-athlete cash award for an individual event, converted to one currency on a stated date. Keep team-event rules, cumulative medals, eligibility, tax treatment and non-cash benefits visible rather than blending them into one headline number.
Higher advertised bonuses alone do not establish that a country’s athletes are more likely to win medals. The available reporting does not provide evidence that incentive payments cause sporting success.
