Verdict: FXBTG should be treated as high risk until you independently verify the legal entity behind the website, its regulator and its withdrawal record. I would not deposit money simply because the platform displays a regulation number, offers high leverage or has a professional-looking trading interface. Those details do not, by themselves, establish that FXBTG is a legitimate broker.
The central problem is not whether the name “FXBTG” exists online. It is whether a specific, identifiable company operates the account you are being asked to fund and whether that company is authorised to provide CFDs or forex services to customers in your country.
What is FXBTG?
FXBTG is presented online as an online forex and CFD trading brand. Accounts associated with this type of platform commonly offer currency pairs, indices, commodities, shares or cryptocurrencies through leveraged trading software.
A brand name is not the same thing as a regulated financial firm. Several different companies can use similar trading names, domains can change, and an unauthorised website can copy the branding of a genuine business. A proper review therefore has to identify the legal operator rather than judge the logo, platform or marketing claims.

Is FXBTG regulated?
Do not assume that FXBTG is regulated without checking the relevant regulator’s own register. The check must establish all of the following:
- The exact legal company name shown on the broker’s terms and conditions.
- The company’s registration or licence number.
- The exact website domain and trading name covered by the licence.
- Permission to provide leveraged forex or CFD services, not merely permission for an unrelated financial activity.
- Permission to serve residents of your country.
For a UK resident, search the FCA Financial Services Register directly at register.fca.org.uk. Do not use a link supplied by a salesperson. Search the company name and the trading name, then compare the register’s website, telephone number and address with the details on the FXBTG website.
If FXBTG claims an overseas licence, use the regulator’s own database—for example, ASIC in Australia, CySEC in Cyprus, the FSCA in South Africa, or the relevant offshore regulator. A company-registration entry is not the same as authorisation to provide investment services. Nor is membership of a private dispute-resolution scheme proof of regulation.
Why regulation matters
A properly authorised broker is subject to rules covering client money, reporting, conduct, complaints and financial resilience. Depending on the country and entity, customers may also receive access to an ombudsman or compensation scheme.

Regulation does not prevent trading losses. CFDs and leveraged forex products can lose money quickly, and a regulator does not guarantee a profitable strategy. But an identifiable authorised firm is materially different from an anonymous website that can stop answering messages after receiving a deposit.
For UK customers, an overseas or unauthorised broker may also bypass important retail protections, including restrictions on leverage, mandatory risk warnings and rules against inducements. If the firm is not authorised for the service it provides, normal Financial Ombudsman Service or compensation protection may not apply.
Warning signs to check before depositing
| Warning sign | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Unsolicited calls, WhatsApp messages or social-media contact | Unsolicited investment approaches are a common route into forex and CFD scams. |
| Guaranteed returns or “risk-free” trading | Legitimate brokers cannot guarantee that leveraged markets will make money. |
| Pressure to deposit immediately | Urgency prevents you from checking the company and understanding the product. |
| Requests to pay tax, insurance or a release fee before withdrawal | These are classic advance-fee fraud indicators. Do not send more money to unlock your own balance. |
| Payments to a personal account, crypto wallet or unrelated company | The destination may not match the regulated broker or client-money arrangement. |
| Only cryptocurrency deposits | Crypto transfers are often difficult or impossible to reverse. |
| Remote-access software requests | AnyDesk, TeamViewer and similar tools can expose banking credentials and allow unauthorised transactions. |
| Regulation details that cannot be found independently | A copied licence number or regulator logo proves nothing without a register match. |
How to verify an FXBTG website
- Record the exact domain. Check every character, including the domain ending. A lookalike domain can imitate a genuine broker.
- Find the legal operator. Look in the footer, client agreement, privacy policy and withdrawal terms. If those documents do not name a company and address, stop.
- Check the regulator directly. Type the regulator’s web address yourself. Search the legal name and licence number.
- Compare contact details. The regulator’s register should show the authorised domain and telephone number. Do not rely on the details in an email or advert.
- Check the warning list. Search the FCA and other relevant regulator websites for the brand, domain and legal entity.
- Test the withdrawal process cautiously. If you proceed despite the risks, use a small amount and request a withdrawal before increasing the deposit. This is not proof of safety, but it can reveal problems early.
A website passing these checks is not automatically a good investment. It only establishes that the entity and permissions deserve further examination.
Trading costs and product risks
FXBTG’s advertised spread, commission and leverage should be checked in the current client agreement and product schedule, not just on a promotional page. Costs can include spreads, commissions, overnight financing, deposit or withdrawal charges, currency conversion and inactivity fees.
Leverage magnifies both gains and losses. A £1,000 position opened with 20:1 leverage has exposure of roughly £20,000. A 5% adverse move against that position represents approximately £1,000 before costs. Fast markets can also produce slippage, rejected orders, widened spreads and stop-loss execution at a worse price than expected.
Ask specifically:
- Is the account a real-market account or a broker-created CFD?
- Who is the counterparty to the trade?
- How are client funds segregated?
- What happens if the broker becomes insolvent?
- Can the broker change spreads or margin requirements?
- Are negative-balance protections available to retail customers?
- Which entity handles complaints and withdrawals?
Does a successful first withdrawal prove FXBTG is legitimate?
No. Some fraudulent platforms allow a small withdrawal to build confidence, then encourage a much larger deposit. Problems often appear when the customer tries to withdraw the main balance. A demand for an additional “tax”, “verification payment”, “liquidity fee” or “account upgrade” is not a normal reason to send more money.
Do not confuse a dashboard balance with money held in a bank account. A fabricated trading interface can show profits that are not backed by real trades or assets.
What to do if you have already paid FXBTG
- Stop sending money. Do not pay a recovery agent or withdrawal fee.
- Contact your bank or card provider immediately and ask whether a chargeback, recall or fraud procedure is available.
- If you paid by card, state clearly that you believe the transaction was connected to an investment scam.
- Contact the relevant regulator and report the website, phone numbers, emails and payment details.
- Report the matter to your local police or national fraud-reporting service.
- Change passwords reused on the trading website and enable two-factor authentication.
- If remote-access software was installed, remove it and have the device checked.
- Keep screenshots, transaction IDs, wallet addresses, emails, contracts and chat logs.
Be careful with “fund recovery” firms. A person who knows you have already lost money may claim to be able to recover it for an upfront payment. That is frequently a second scam.

Is FXBTG suitable for beginners?
Even if the legal entity were verified, leveraged forex and CFD trading is generally unsuitable for beginners who are looking for long-term investing. The products are complex, financing costs can accumulate, and short-term trading requires risk controls that many new traders do not have.
A broker should not be selected solely for high leverage, bonuses or a slick mobile application. For a beginner, authorisation in the customer’s home country, transparent pricing, clear withdrawals and credible complaint arrangements matter more than promotional features.
FXBTG review: strengths and weaknesses
| Potential positive | Important limitation |
|---|---|
| May advertise access to forex and other leveraged markets | Product availability does not prove authorisation or safe custody of funds. |
| May provide online trading software | A platform can display simulated prices and balances; software is not regulatory evidence. |
| May publish licence details | Details must match an independent regulator record and the exact website. |
| May offer account managers or trading guidance | Unsolicited “account managers” and pressure to deposit are serious warning signs. |
Final assessment
Based on the checks a customer should be able to complete, I would not call FXBTG a safely established broker without first confirming its exact operator and active authorisation. If the firm cannot be matched on an official regulatory register, or if the domain and contact details do not match the register, treat it as unauthorised and avoid it.
That is a stronger conclusion than simply saying that the website looks suspicious, but it is not the same as a formal finding that every website using the FXBTG name is fraudulent. Different domains or entities can exist. The decisive issue is the specific site that contacted you and the company receiving your money.

FAQ
Is FXBTG a scam?
FXBTG should be treated as high risk unless its exact legal entity, website and licence can be verified on an official regulator’s register. Do not rely on branding, testimonials or a licence number shown on the website.
Can I trust an FXBTG regulation number?
Not without checking it independently. Search the regulator’s own database and confirm that the legal name, domain, telephone number and permitted activities all match the FXBTG details you were given.
What if FXBTG asks me to pay before allowing a withdrawal?
Do not pay. Requests for taxes, insurance, release charges or account-upgrade fees before a withdrawal are common advance-fee scam indicators. Contact your bank and report the matter instead.
Does a trading platform prove that FXBTG is genuine?
No. Trading software can be supplied or imitated by an unauthorised operator. Regulation, legal identity, client-money arrangements and independently verified withdrawals are more important checks.

Possibly, depending on how and when you paid, but there is no guarantee. Contact your bank or card provider immediately, preserve evidence and avoid recovery companies demanding an upfront fee.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: I would not deposit with FXBTG until the specific website and legal operator are confirmed on the relevant official regulatory register. If the firm is contacting you unexpectedly, promising returns, requesting crypto or demanding extra money to release a withdrawal, assume the approach is fraudulent and stop communicating.
