Two lenders in this sourced shortlist advertise personal loans up to $100,000: SoFi and Wells Fargo. That is a maximum, not a promised approval or offer. The available lender disclosures were checked in October 2026 and date to July and September 2026, so they do not establish what rates were available in April 2026.

Wells Fargo is an option only for eligible existing customers; SoFi has a wider advertised APR range and may deduct an origination fee from proceeds. The right comparison is the actual offer for your amount and repayment term, including APR, fees, discounts, monthly payment and total repayment—not the lowest advertised starting rate.

Which personal loans advertise a $100,000 maximum?

This is a sourced shortlist of two lenders, not a complete survey of U.S. personal-loan providers or an independent ranking. Each lender’s maximum is subject to its underwriting, eligibility rules and the offer it makes to an individual borrower.

Lender Advertised amount and term Disclosed APR and date Key eligibility and cost details
SoFi $5,000–$100,000; its rates page shows example terms from two to seven years. Fixed APR of 6.49%–35.49%, current as of September 21, 2026. The stated range reflects a 0.25% autopay discount and a 0.25% member discount. May charge an origination fee of 0%–7%, reflected in the APR and deducted from proceeds. Actual rates depend on term, creditworthiness, income and other factors; the lowest rates are for the most creditworthy applicants. State restrictions apply.
Wells Fargo $3,000–$100,000; terms of 12–84 months for loans of $5,000–$100,000. 6.74%–26.74% APR with a qualifying 0.25% relationship discount; rates as of July 10, 2026. Only eligible existing Wells Fargo customers may apply. A qualifying consumer product must have been open at least 12 months. Rates depend on credit history, amount and term; the lowest rate is for excellent credit. Account and autopay rules apply to the discount.

What the advertised APRs do—and do not—tell you

SoFi’s range and possible fee

SoFi’s advertised range includes specified autopay and member discounts. Check whether you qualify for each discount and whether its conditions continue to be met. Its potential origination fee can reduce the money deposited to you, even though the APR reflects the fee. Compare the amount you would actually receive with the amount you must repay. See SoFi’s product terms and rates and terms.

Wells Fargo’s existing-customer requirement

Wells Fargo’s advertised maximum does not mean the loan is open to everyone. Its FAQ says applicants must be existing customers with a qualifying consumer product open for at least 12 months. The lender’s rate page says pricing varies with credit history, amount and term, and its lowest rate assumes excellent credit. See the Wells Fargo personal-loan FAQ.

How to compare actual offers

Request offers for the same loan amount and similar repayment terms where possible. APR helps compare loans with different fee structures: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Your Money, Your Goals toolkit (2015) advises, “Use the annual percentage rate (APR) to compare how much loans cost.”

  1. Check eligibility first. Confirm that the lender serves your state and that you meet account-history or other application requirements.
  2. Compare APR and discount conditions. Record the APR actually offered, not just the advertised floor. Note any autopay, membership or account conditions needed to obtain a discount.
  3. Account for fees and net proceeds. If an origination fee is deducted from the loan, compare the amount deposited with the amount borrowed and repaid.
  4. Compare monthly payments and total repayment. A longer term can lower the scheduled monthly payment but increase total interest. Compare the total of scheduled payments for offers with similar terms.
  5. Review the final disclosures. Confirm the term, payment schedule, APR, fees and any conditions before accepting.

The CFPB toolkit’s guidance is available in its consumer education toolkit.

Rate checks and formal applications affect credit inquiries differently

SoFi says checking an estimated rate uses a soft inquiry, while proceeding with an application triggers a hard inquiry that may affect a credit score. Wells Fargo describes the same distinction between checking rates and submitting a full application. Confirm the lender’s current process before proceeding: a prequalification is not final approval or a guaranteed loan amount.

How to interpret lender payment examples

Published examples illustrate a lender’s terms; they are not quotes for a $100,000 loan or predictions of an individual borrower’s rate. Wells Fargo gives a representative example of $17,000 borrowed over 48 months at 13.99% APR, with a $464 monthly payment assuming on-time payments. SoFi’s rates page shows payment examples for $30,000 across terms and APR ranges; its examples exclude terms with an origination fee. See Wells Fargo’s rate examples and SoFi’s rate examples.

Why April 2026 rates are not shown

The available official disclosures support a later comparison, not an April 2026 historical rate table: Wells Fargo dates its displayed rates to July 10, 2026, and SoFi says its rates were current as of September 21, 2026. Those figures should not be read as April rates. Lender pricing, fees, discount requirements and state availability can change.
