The phrase “I have complete faith” has not been verified in the available sources as a direct quote from Derby County owner David Clowes. August 2026 fan-media coverage reported that Clowes looked set to sell a large stake in the club to Lion Sport, then said Turki Alalshikh had withdrawn. It does not establish whether other investment talks remain active or confirm deal terms.
What is known about Derby County’s reported investment search?
Rams Review’s August 2026 season preview described Clowes as looking set to sell a large stake in Derby County to Lion Sport and then reported that Turki Alalshikh had pulled out. That is secondary fan-media coverage, not a club announcement or transaction document: Rams Review’s 2026-27 Season Preview.
The report does not verify the proposed stake’s size, the financial terms, whether the Lion Sport proposal concluded, or whether any other investor remains in discussion. It should not be read as confirmation of a completed sale or of the current status of Derby’s investment search.
Is “I have complete faith” a verified quote?
Not in the sources available for this article. The original interview or other primary source containing the phrase has not been identified, so the wording, speaker and context cannot be independently confirmed. It is more accurate to treat it as a reported claim than as an established direct quotation from Clowes.

What does Clowes’s past public record show?
Derby’s financial crisis
In a 2025 parliamentary debate, Derby County’s near-collapse was discussed. The account said that, according to Clowes, the club had been about one week from going out of business. That is historical context about the crisis, not evidence of the club’s present financial position: UK Parliament Hansard, Football Governance Bill [Lords], 28 April 2025.
Stated priorities
The same debate reports that, when asked what he wanted Derby County to stand for, Clowes answered “stability, integrity and progress.” The parliamentary record also quotes him as saying: “We would never want to see another club and its fans suffer in the way Derby did both before and during the period of administration. Anything that can prevent that, including this Bill, should be supported and applauded.” These statements describe his expressed priorities and views in 2025; they do not establish the club’s current finances or the terms of any investment.

What would confirm the status and significance of a deal?
A clear assessment would require an official club or investor announcement and verified terms. The key distinctions are whether money would enter the club as new equity or be paid for an existing owner’s shares, how much funding is involved and when it would arrive, and what ownership and control rights the investor would receive. Conditions attached to a proposal and confirmation that it has completed would also matter.
A July 2025 podcast listing says football finance expert Kieran Maguire discussed Derby’s finances, wage budget, value and the possible effect of additional investment, but the listing supplies no current audited figures or verified transaction terms: Steve Bloomer’s Washing podcast listing on Podtail. It cannot establish the financial impact of the reported proposal.
