No Powerball numbers are more likely than others to win the jackpot. Every valid combination has the same chance in each drawing, whether you choose it yourself or use Quick Pick. A $100 million jackpot does not change those odds—and the figure should be treated as hypothetical unless confirmed on Powerball’s official jackpot page.
Are some Powerball numbers more likely to be drawn?
No. Powerball says every number has the same probability of being drawn in every drawing. A play consists of five white-ball numbers from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 to 26; each valid combination is equally likely under the same drawing rules. The official [Powerball odds chart](https://www.powerball.com/ odds) lists jackpot odds of 1 in 292,201,338 for a $2 play.
That means a combination that looks unusual has the same chance as one that seems familiar or orderly. Past results do not make a number “due,” and a run of frequent numbers does not make those numbers more likely next time. Frequency charts describe previous drawings; they do not predict a future random drawing.
Does Quick Pick improve your chances?
No. Quick Pick and choosing your own valid numbers have equal odds of matching the jackpot combination. Powerball reported in 2024 that 82% of jackpot-winning tickets had computer-selected numbers, but more tickets are purchased as Quick Picks. That share does not show that Quick Pick has better odds.

What are the odds on a $2 Powerball play?
| Outcome | Official odds per $2 play |
|---|---|
| Jackpot | 1 in 292,201,338 |
| Any prize | 1 in 24.87 |
These are the figures shown on Powerball’s [official prize chart](https://www.powerball.com/ odds), rounded as presented. The chance of winning any prize is not the chance of winning the jackpot: most prize outcomes are lower-tier prizes. Powerball drawings are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

Does a $100 million jackpot make a ticket more likely to win?
No. Powerball states that an individual player has the same odds regardless of the jackpot amount or the number of tickets sold for a drawing. A larger jackpot can attract more ticket sales, which may mean more combinations are covered across all tickets and can increase the chance that someone wins. It does not improve the odds for your individual play.
The $100 million amount is not confirmed here as a live jackpot. Check Powerball’s official jackpot listing before relying on a current advertised amount. A headline jackpot estimate, the cash option, and the winner’s amount after taxes are different figures. In the United States, a jackpot winner may choose an annuity paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years or a lump-sum cash option; advertised payouts are before applicable taxes.

Can add-ons or buying more plays help?
Power Play and Double Play do not make your selected numbers more likely to match the jackpot. Power Play multiplies certain non-jackpot prizes; Double Play enters the same numbers in a separate drawing. They are optional add-ons, and availability and terms depend on the jurisdiction. Check your local lottery’s rules before purchasing.
Buying additional plays covers more combinations, but each play retains the same jackpot odds. Tickets cost $2 per play according to Powerball’s game overview. Add-ons and additional tickets also cost more, so do not treat them as a strategy that changes the underlying randomness.
Where and when can you buy a ticket?
Ticket sale cutoffs, online purchase options, prize claims, and anonymity rules vary by jurisdiction. Powerball also warns that cross-jurisdiction internet or mail sales are restricted. Check your own lottery for current purchase and claim rules; the official Powerball FAQ directs players to their jurisdiction’s lottery.
