Arizona does not authorize online casinos. The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) says online casinos, also called “igaming,” are not legal in the state and warns that claims to the contrary should be treated as highly suspicious. Before sharing personal or payment information with a gambling app or website, check its status through ADG’s Check Your Bet resources.
Are online casinos legal in Arizona?
No. ADG states that online casino gambling is not legal in Arizona. That includes claims that an Arizona casino has opened an official online casino; an ad, app-store listing, or familiar casino name does not establish that a platform is authorized.
Arizona does allow other regulated gambling activities, but they are separate categories with their own rules and authorized operators. An online service being available in Arizona—or associated with a casino—does not by itself make it a legal online casino.
What gambling options are different from online casinos?
| Category | What it covers | How to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Online casinos / igaming | Online casino games. ADG says these are not legal in Arizona. | Do not treat an operator’s advertising as authorization; consult ADG’s Check Your Bet guidance. |
| Event wagering and fantasy sports | Regulated categories distinct from online casino games. | Check ADG’s current approved operator and retail-location information on Check Your Bet. |
| Horse-racing wagering | Wagering through permitted tracks, advanced deposit wagering providers, and off-track betting locations. | Use ADG’s current horse-racing information and listings on Check Your Bet. |
| Tribal casinos | In-person casino-style gaming at tribal facilities; this is not online casino authorization. | Consult ADG’s tribal casino directory and Tribal Gaming FAQs. |
ADG’s FAQ currently lists 26 Class III facilities operated by 16 tribes, plus one Class II facility. The counts are live-page figures and may change. Class III facilities are co-regulated by the tribe’s gaming office and ADG under the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact; the FAQ says the Class II facility is overseen by its tribe and the National Indian Gaming Commission. The state’s amended compacts were signed April 15, 2021, and took effect May 24, 2021. See ADG’s FAQ and compact information for current details.

How to check whether a gambling app or website is authorized
- Identify the exact service. Note the app name, website address, business name, and the kind of gambling it offers. Casino games, event wagering, fantasy sports, and horse-racing wagering are not interchangeable categories.
- Open ADG’s Check Your Bet page directly. Use its official lists and directories for the relevant category. Confirm the specific operator rather than relying on a search result, ad, casino branding, or a claim made by the platform.
- Do not deposit or submit sensitive information if you cannot verify it. If an app claims to be an Arizona casino’s official online casino, that claim conflicts with ADG’s stated position on online casinos.
- Report a suspicious offer to ADG. Keep the website link, app name, business name, and promotional materials so you can include them when reporting suspected illegal gambling.
Why caution matters
In a March 31, 2025 consumer alert, ADG warned that fraudulent operators were falsely claiming legitimate Arizona casinos had launched online gaming platforms. The agency said the offers appeared in social-media advertisements that directed users to apps and websites and could expose consumers to financial risk. Read the ADG consumer alert.
ADG also cautions consumers about fraudulent platforms using the term “sweepstakes.” The agency says “sweepstakes” is not a term defined in Arizona law; that warning is not a blanket legal determination about every business using a sweepstakes model. If a specific site’s status is unclear, do not infer authorization from its label or marketing—check current ADG guidance and seek qualified legal advice for a particular legal question.

Age and responsible gambling
ADG states that the legal gambling age in Arizona is 21 or older. It encourages people to set limits and not gamble beyond their means. The agency offers self-exclusion programs for tribal casinos and licensed event wagering and fantasy sports contests; those programs should not be treated as protections for unauthorized online casino sites. Current information is available through ADG’s homepage and Check Your Bet.
