MacRumors reported those prices for 45mm models at Amazon on August 12, 2024; an earlier Best Buy report listed the same prices on February 3, 2024, and said that deal had expired. MacRumors’ August 2024 report does not establish what a retailer charges today.
Is the Apple Watch Series 9 still $329?
There is no current-price confirmation in the available reports. The $329 GPS price and $429 GPS + Cellular price refer to 45mm Series 9 configurations sold during reported U.S. promotions in 2024, not a verified October 2026 offer. The February 3, 2024 Best Buy report explicitly described its deal as expired.
Apple’s refurbished store is a separate comparison, not proof of those new-product sale prices: its listing showed $319 for one 45mm Starlight aluminum GPS + Cellular configuration when crawled the week of October 7, 2026. Refurbished availability and price can change, and the offer differs in condition from a new watch.
What the $329 and $429 prices covered
The two historical prices applied to the 45mm aluminum Series 9: GPS at $329 and GPS + Cellular at $429. MacRumors reported them at Amazon on August 12, 2024, reduced from $429 and $529 respectively. Its August 12, 2024 report is a record of that promotion, not a live listing.

- S9 SiP Processor: Advanced processor improves overall performance and enables on-device Siri functionality.
The earlier Best Buy report also recorded $329 for 45mm GPS and $429 for 45mm GPS + Cellular. These figures are U.S. dollars and should not be applied to 41mm watches, stainless steel models, different bands, or listings with another condition or seller.
Is GPS + Cellular worth another $100?
The $100 difference was the gap between the two configurations in those 2024 sale reports. Whether cellular is worth paying extra for depends on whether you want to use the watch without your iPhone nearby and whether a compatible carrier plan is available on suitable terms where you live. Apple says a cellular Apple Watch with a cellular plan can be used without the iPhone nearby.

Compare the complete cost and terms, not just the watch’s sticker price: carrier support, plan charges, seller, warranty, returns, case material, and included band can all differ. Apple’s product listing describes the cited 45mm aluminum GPS + Cellular configuration as including a Sport Band and magnetic fast-charging cable, but individual listings may vary.
Check compatibility and configuration before buying
- iPhone: Apple states, “Apple Watch Series 9 require an iPhone Xs or later with iOS 17 or later.” See Apple’s Series 9 listing.
- Case size: Series 9 comes in 41mm and 45mm sizes. Confirm the size shown in the retailer’s exact listing.
- Connectivity: Check whether it is GPS or GPS + Cellular; cellular capability is not the same as an active carrier plan.
- Condition and seller: Distinguish new from refurbished, and review the seller, warranty, and return policy.
- Included items: Match case material and band style, and confirm what accessories come in the box.
