It did not say what services or server equipment they covered. A separate 2025 procurement notice records a £74,700 Cloud Complex Operations services contract with Rackspace Limited; it is a distinct record, not an explanation of the earlier deals.
What were the three 2008 Rackspace contracts worth?
In a written answer on 22 April 2008, then Minister of State for the Armed Forces Bob Ainsworth said the MOD had placed three contracts with Rackspace. The answer gives each contract identifier and its value excluding VAT:
| Contract identifier | Value excluding VAT |
|---|---|
| AG1A/1453 | £77,621 |
| VCMMS/119003 | £129,831 |
| VCMMS/119658 | £1,746,316 |
The figures and identifiers are from the House of Commons written answer. They are stated contract values, not evidence of the amount paid to date or a description of the work delivered.
What did Rackspace provide?
The 2008 answer does not identify the services, server configuration or purpose covered by any of the three contracts. Although the headline calls this a server deal, that wording is not enough to establish that the MOD bought physical servers. The parliamentary record also gives no award dates or contract durations, so it cannot establish whether those agreements remain active.

The later details come from Find a Tender notice 024049-2025. It does not establish how the 2025 service contract relates to the three 2008 contracts. The records support a comparison of identifiers, stated values and dates—not conclusions about shared scope, technical specifications or service outcomes.
