Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) sells and supports technology that organizations use to run applications, connect users and systems, store data, and manage computing across data centers, cloud services, and edge locations. Its portfolio includes servers, networking, storage, hybrid-cloud systems, AI and high-performance computing infrastructure, software, and services. HPE GreenLake is its hybrid-cloud platform and service-delivery experience. HPE is a separate company from HP Inc., the business associated with personal computers and printers.
What does HPE do?
HPE is an enterprise technology company. In its FY2025 Form 10-K, the company describes its focus as helping customers capture, analyze, and act on data from edge to cloud. In practical terms, that means supplying technology and services to organizations that need to operate business applications, connect sites and devices, store and protect information, or handle demanding computing workloads.
HPE serves customers ranging from small and midsize businesses to large enterprises and government organizations. A customer may use one part of its portfolio or combine several—for example, servers to run applications, networking equipment to connect systems, and software or services to manage the environment.
What HPE sells and supports
Servers and computing
Servers are computers built to run applications, databases, virtualized systems, and other workloads for organizations. HPE offers general-purpose enterprise computing as well as systems designed for specialized needs, including AI, analytics, simulation, transaction processing, and high-performance computing.

- 3.50 GHz processor speed ensures efficient operation with consistent reliability
- Intel Xeon 3.50 GHz processor provides enterprise-grade performance with built-in security and remote management capabilities
- Quad-core (4 Core) processor core handles data efficiently for faster processing and better usability
- 1 processors supported for optimal performance and maximum reliability in mission-critical server environments
- With 32 GB memory, improve system performance and reduce processing delays
ProLiant is one HPE server family; it is an example, not a single system that suits every organization. The right configuration depends on factors such as workload, performance, capacity, security, and where the system will be deployed. For especially demanding scientific and high-performance workloads, HPE also offers supercomputing systems such as HPE Cray EX.
Networking
Networking equipment and software connect people, devices, applications, and data across offices, campuses, data centers, and cloud environments. HPE frames its networking work in two complementary ways: using AI to improve network operations, and building network infrastructure capable of supporting AI workloads.

HPE’s FY2025 filing says Juniper Networks advances its networking strategy. That statement describes the role HPE assigns to Juniper in the filing; it should not be read as a detailed account of the companies’ current integration or product availability.
Storage, AI, and high-performance computing
HPE’s portfolio also includes storage, AI infrastructure, and high-performance computing. These offerings address needs beyond routine business computing, such as handling large data sets or supporting computationally intensive scientific and technical work. HPE describes these areas alongside its server and networking businesses rather than as a single product category.

Software and services
HPE sells software and management capabilities and provides professional or operational services. Those components can help organizations deploy, manage, or support infrastructure. As a result, an HPE solution may involve a combination of hardware, software, and services rather than just a server or other physical device.
What HPE GreenLake means
Hybrid cloud generally means using multiple IT environments together—for example, public cloud services alongside infrastructure in an organization’s own data center or at other locations. HPE describes GreenLake as a hybrid-by-design cloud experience spanning public cloud, data centers, colocation facilities, and the edge.

GreenLake is HPE’s branded platform and service-delivery experience, not a public cloud provider interchangeable with large public-cloud platforms. HPE says it brings infrastructure, software, and management capabilities together and offers some solutions as a service, including through a pay-per-use model. That describes the way HPE offers certain capabilities; it does not establish that GreenLake will always cost less than another approach.
HPE lists hybrid-cloud capabilities that include infrastructure, storage, private cloud, data protection, and AIOps. A business evaluating those offerings should distinguish the environment it needs to manage from the delivery model it prefers: some capabilities may be delivered as a service, while other systems and software are deployed for the organization to operate.

HPE versus HP Inc.
Hewlett-Packard separated into Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. in 2015. They share historical roots but are distinct businesses. HPE focuses on enterprise technology such as servers, storage, networking, and hybrid cloud; HP Inc. is associated with personal computers, printers, and related consumer products.
HPE’s history and published company figures
HPE’s About page says Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard launched a company in a rented garage in 1939. The page also displays three scale statements: “90% of the Fortune 500 trust HPE,” “17k+ experts build solutions with customers and partners every day,” and “55k organizations around the world work with us.” These are HPE’s own marketing claims on an undated About page accessed in 2026; the page does not provide a separate reporting year or methodology for them, so they should not be treated as audited or independently measured statistics.
