Re:

Can You Buy SpaceX Stock Through a Fund or ETF?

SpaceX exposure is available through funds, but a thematic ETF, a daily leveraged or inverse fund, and a private-market interval fund work very differently.

Yes. As of October 7, 2026, SpaceX is publicly traded after completing its IPO in June 2026, and several types of funds can provide exposure to it. But buying a fund is not the same as buying SpaceX shares: a fund may hold shares as part of a broader portfolio, target a multiple of SpaceX’s return each day, or include SpaceX among private-company investments with limited redemption opportunities.

What are the ways to get SpaceX exposure?

Route What it provides What to check
Direct shares Ownership of publicly traded SpaceX shares, which began trading on Nasdaq at or about June 12, 2026, according to an SEC-filed commercial-space fund summary. Whether your broker and jurisdiction allow you to trade the shares, and the current listing details.
Thematic fund Exposure through a broader commercial-space portfolio. An SEC-filed fund summary says the fund intended to hold SpaceX at a meaningfully higher weight than its general allocation ranges for a period after the IPO. The fund’s latest holdings, actual SpaceX weight, exposure method, costs and risk controls. The prospectus describes an intention, not a guaranteed allocation.
Daily leveraged or inverse ETF A fund targeting a multiple of SpaceX’s daily price performance, or the inverse of that performance. The daily—not long-term—objective, derivatives used, expenses and the risks of holding it over multiple days.
Private-market interval fund Exposure to SpaceX as one of a number of late-stage private-company investments. How holdings are valued, the fund’s SpaceX weight, fees and the terms and limits on repurchases.

These are different investments, not interchangeable ways to own the same security. Fund shares do not automatically give you the same ownership or shareholder rights as holding SpaceX stock directly; check the fund’s governing documents for what rights, if any, apply.

Which funds name SpaceX exposure?

A commercial-space thematic fund

An SEC-filed summary prospectus for a commercial-space ecosystem fund says it intended to give SpaceX a meaningfully higher weighting than its usual allocation ranges for a period after the IPO. The filing makes that strategy subject to the fund’s objective, liquidity and risk management, market conditions and applicable law. It does not establish the fund’s current holdings or promise a lasting allocation. Check the latest holdings rather than relying on a past strategy statement.

Daily leveraged and inverse funds

Direxion lists LOFF, with a +200% daily target, and LOFD, with a -200% daily target. Those objectives are before fees and expenses. Direxion’s page lists a 0.99% gross and 0.97% net expense ratio for each; check the current fee table because fund terms can change. Direxion also warns that these high-risk funds may fail to meet their daily objectives and are not equivalent to direct SpaceX investment.

REX Shares’ June 2026 SPAX prospectus describes a 200% daily exposure objective. It says the fund normally invests at least 80% of net assets in financial instruments intended to provide aggregate exposure equal to 200% of SpaceX’s daily price performance. The prospectus describes possible use of swaps, call options or direct SpaceX common stock. Direct shares do not themselves provide leverage, and using them could make it harder for the fund to meet its daily objective. Check for later prospectus amendments before relying on these terms.

A private-market interval fund

Private Shares Fund describes PRIVX, PIIVX and PRLVX as share classes of a registered interval fund with diversified late-stage private-company exposure that includes SpaceX. The fund says there is no accreditation requirement, publishes a daily NAV and makes quarterly repurchase offers of up to 5% of NAV. That cap describes the size of an offer, not a guarantee that every investor can redeem any amount at any time. The fund also says there is no guarantee that a private-company holding will IPO or trade on an exchange.

A historical fund overview reported SpaceX at 13.6% of the fund portfolio as of December 31, 2025. That is a dated figure, not a current allocation. The overview also warns that private holdings can be more volatile after becoming public and may be subject to IPO lockups.

Why a daily 2× or -2× target is not a long-term multiple

LOFF, LOFD and SPAX describe daily objectives. Their targets apply to a single day’s return before fees and expenses; they do not promise twice, or minus twice, SpaceX’s return over a week, month or longer period. Across multiple days, results compound, and changes in the stock’s path can make a fund’s cumulative return differ substantially from a simple multiple of SpaceX’s cumulative return. Derivatives, expenses and the fund’s ability to meet its objective also affect results.

That makes these products materially different from a fund that holds SpaceX shares as one part of a diversified portfolio. Before buying, make sure the daily target and the risk of a multi-day holding fit your intended use.

How to compare funds before investing

  1. Confirm the actual holding. Look up the fund’s latest holdings and stated exposure method. A prospectus strategy or past portfolio percentage does not establish what the fund owns today.
  2. Identify the objective. Determine whether the fund holds SpaceX within a broader portfolio, targets daily leveraged or inverse returns, or owns private-company interests.
  3. Read the costs and risks. Review the current prospectus and fee table, including the effect of derivatives, leverage, concentration and the fund’s own risk controls.
  4. Check when you can get out. Listed ETF shares generally trade on the secondary market during market hours. An interval fund’s quarterly repurchase process is limited by its terms and is not equivalent to selling an exchange-traded share throughout the day.
  5. Verify access. Confirm that the specific security is available through your broker and in your jurisdiction, and check current ticker and exchange details with an authoritative listing source or your broker.

Keep the proposed IPO price separate from the trading price

SpaceX’s June 4, 2026 IPO announcement described $135 as a proposed offering price and SPCX as a planned ticker while stating that its registration statement had not yet become effective. That preliminary figure is not a current share price or necessarily the final offering term. Later SEC-filed fund material reports that the IPO was completed and trading began at or about June 12, 2026. For a current quote or listing detail, check an authoritative exchange or broker source.
