Bluesky Digital Assets Corp and Bluesky, the social media platform, are separate entities. A Nov. 20, 2024, Gizmodo report said the Canadian crypto company’s shares rose sharply as the social network grew, and suggested some investors may have mistaken one for the other. The report did not establish individual buyers’ motives or prove that confusion caused the price movement.
What happened to Bluesky Digital Assets Corp’s share price?
Gizmodo reported that shares of Bluesky Digital Assets Corp rose from 5 cents on Nov. 1, 2024, to 41 cents on Wednesday, Nov. 20, after reaching 49 cents the previous week. These are historical prices reported in that article, not current quotes.
At the same time, Gizmodo described rapid growth in the Bluesky social network: it reported 12 million users as of Oct. 18, 2024, and more than 20 million by the article’s publication. Those figures also describe the period in 2024, not the platform’s current user count.
Are Bluesky Digital Assets and Bluesky Social the same company?
No. In Gizmodo’s report, Bluesky Digital Assets Corp was described as a Canadian crypto company, while Bluesky was the social media platform. The shared name does not make them the same entity. The article’s account does not establish their current corporate, ownership, operating, or listing status.

Did confusion about the name cause the stock’s rise?
Gizmodo framed mistaken identity as a likely explanation for the crypto company’s share-price rise. That is an interpretation, not proof of what individual investors intended: the report did not provide direct evidence about buyers’ motives or establish that name confusion caused the increase.
Gizmodo also reported that Bluesky Digital Assets Corp said management was unaware of a material operational change that would account for the market activity. The article reproduced this sentence attributed to the company’s press release: “wishes to confirm that the Corporation’s management is unaware of any material change in the Corporation’s operations that would account for the recent increase in market activity.” Gizmodo said the release appeared to have been removed from the company website; the original release was not independently reviewed for this account.

The article also does not establish the current listing status of Bluesky Digital Assets Corp, so neither entity’s present status should be inferred from the 2024 report.
