What MrBeast said he earns per video
In a 2024 TIME interview, Jimmy Donaldson said: “Each video does a couple million in ad revenue, a couple million in brand deals.” His wording gives a broad, approximate picture of two revenue streams: YouTube advertising and sponsorships. It is not an audited accounting of every upload.

TIME separately reported that Marc Hustvedt, who ran MrBeast’s YouTube business, said brands paid $2.5 million to $3 million for Donaldson to give a shout-out. That figure is attributed to Hustvedt and describes reported sponsor pricing; it should not be treated as a universal rate for every deal or video.
Revenue is not the same as profit or personal income
The per-video quote does not establish how much Donaldson personally keeps. TIME reported that he said the business reinvested whatever it made. The article also said the production company was not profitable in 2023 and was not expected to be profitable in 2024. Those are historical statements about the business, not a disclosure of his personal salary, taxes, or current finances.

Why YouTube ad estimates are easy to misread
YouTube distinguishes between CPM and RPM. CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions before YouTube’s share; RPM is creator revenue after YouTube’s share per 1,000 views. As YouTube explains, “RPM is your total revenue (after YouTube’s revenue share) per 1000 views.” The measures have different denominators and meanings, so multiplying CPM by total views does not calculate a creator’s earnings.

Not every view shows an ad. YouTube says advertising revenue can vary with factors including viewer geography, time of year, ad formats, ad availability, and whether content is suitable for advertisers. RPM also accounts for unmonetized views, so a change in the mix of views can change the metric.
RPM is not a complete measure of all business revenue connected to a video. YouTube says it excludes merchandise sales and most brand deals or sponsorships. Those income sources need to be considered separately from ad revenue.

Why a widely shared MrBeast payout is not a YouTube-video figure
In January 2024, MrBeast posted an existing video to X as a monetization experiment. TechCrunch reported that, after a week, he shared a screenshot showing $263,655 in ad revenue, more than 156 million impressions, and 5 million engagements. That was an X payout—not a disclosure of what a YouTube upload earned.
He also cautioned that the result might be atypical, saying advertisers may have bought ads against the video after seeing the attention it received, which could have raised revenue per view. It should not be used as a standard rate or converted into a YouTube estimate.

What his audience size can—and cannot—tell you
YouTube reported on June 12, 2026, that Donaldson became the first individual creator to reach 500 million YouTube subscribers. That milestone gives context for his scale, but it does not reveal how many views on a particular upload were monetized, what its RPM was, what sponsors paid, or what it cost to produce.
