That means the headline is an attributed assessment—not confirmation of an order book, investor commitments, pricing, or an IPO date.
What does “strong demand” mean here?
The headline attributes the demand assessment to BofA. The specific BofA note or an official statement containing that assessment has not been located, and no statistic quantifying demand for either company was identified. It is therefore not possible to tell from the available information whether “demand” refers to informal investor interest, indications gathered in discussions, or something more concrete.
In particular, the claim does not establish that either company has opened an IPO order book, received investor orders, set a price range, or decided how shares would be allocated. General interest in large IPOs is not a substitute for company-specific demand evidence.
What has been reported about the IPO plans?
June 2026: preparations described, not completed offerings
A June 2026 Wall Street Journal article, reproduced in a Scribd search result, reported that Anthropic had filed confidential IPO paperwork and that OpenAI was working with bankers on a filing. The article also discussed competition to list first and the possibility that later offerings might face pressure for investor capital. This is secondary reporting reproduced by a third-party host; it does not establish that either company completed an IPO or had a final listing schedule.

#1 Best Overall
A separate June 2026 Bloomberg Law report said expected listings by OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX were generating IPO-related work at large law firms. It included a market participant’s general observation about broad investor demand, but that was not evidence of a BofA statistic or a verified order book for either OpenAI or Anthropic.
July 2026: possible timelines remained speculative
A July 2026 Benzinga report relayed Bloomberg reporting that Anthropic was meeting investors ahead of a potential IPO and that a listing could happen as early as October. The same report relayed a New York Times report that OpenAI’s listing could slip to 2027. Those were prospective reports at the time, not confirmed dates or outcomes.
Rank #2
September 2026: Anthropic’s venue and timetable not publicly confirmed
A September 2026 Business Today report said Anthropic had not publicly confirmed its reported exchange selection or a final timetable. A reported venue or possible date should not be treated as an official company decision without a company announcement or filing.
Can investors tell which IPO is more in demand?
No reliable company-to-company comparison is supported by the available information. The reports describe different stages of preparation and possible timing, but they do not provide a comparable demand measure for OpenAI and Anthropic. Nor does a broad comment about interest in mega-IPOs show how investors might respond to either specific offering.
Rank #3
To assess demand more concretely, investors would need a clearly sourced, company-specific measure and its context—for example, whether it came from investor conversations or a formal offering process, when it was measured, and whether it represents indications of interest or firm orders. No such BofA measure was identified.

As of October 7, 2026, the reporting summarized here does not establish whether either company has since listed, changed its plans, or publicly updated its timetable. The June–September reports are snapshots of what was reported at those times, not current confirmation of an IPO outcome. A definitive status requires current company announcements or regulatory filings.
