A Silver Spring woman and her daughter-in-law claimed a $50,000 Mega Millions prize in Baltimore on October 5, 2026, the Maryland Lottery reported the next day. The Lottery says the pair had won a $50,000 prize together once before, making this their second such win in two years.
Who won the second $50,000 Maryland Lottery prize?
The winners were a woman from Silver Spring and her daughter-in-law, whom the Maryland Lottery described as her “Lottery partner.” The October 6, 2026, Maryland Lottery report does not name either woman or state how they divided the prize.
What happened with their second win?
The pair traveled to Baltimore and claimed a $50,000 Mega Millions prize on October 5, according to the Lottery. The agency described it as their second $50,000 win in two years. Its report excerpt does not give the date or drawing for the earlier win.
Did playing the same numbers cause the win?
After the claim, the daughter-in-law said, “We win because we play the same numbers!” That is her explanation for the pair’s experience; the Lottery report does not establish that repeating numbers improves the odds of winning.
How does Maryland handle a prize claim above $25,000?
The Maryland Lottery’s general claim guidance says prizes above $25,000 must be claimed at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. A headquarters claim requires an appointment, is paid by check, and may take at least 30 business days to process and pay. These are the Lottery’s general instructions; its winner report does not say which steps the pair took or how long their payment took. See the Maryland Lottery claim instructions.
The Lottery also says players must be at least 18 years old and promotes responsible play. Its player information provides the relevant guidance.
