To send money from Switzerland to India, compare a live quote from an international transfer provider with any bank option you are considering. Match the CHF amount, payment method and payout method, then compare the total CHF debited with the INR the recipient will receive—not just the advertised transfer fee. Exchange-rate conversion, payment charges and possible receiving or intermediary fees can change the real cost.
Which transfer option fits your recipient?
Start with how the recipient wants to receive the money. Providers may offer a deposit to an Indian bank account, payment to an eligible UPI ID, or cash pickup, but availability depends on the provider and the specific Switzerland-to-India route.
Online money-transfer providers
A provider may let you fund a transfer by bank transfer, card, or another method and send the INR to a local bank account or another supported payout option. Wise describes bank-account payout and a separate UPI-ID route for this corridor. Its route page says fees are shown in advance and describes a mid-market exchange rate; those are Wise’s descriptions of its service, not an independent assessment. Check the live calculator for the route and payout you plan to use.
Western Union
Western Union lists sending through its app or website and at agent locations, and describes bank-account, cash-pickup, card and mobile-wallet options where available. Its Switzerland fee page does not establish that every method is available for Switzerland-to-India. Confirm the India route, recipient eligibility and current payout choices before paying. Western Union says it earns from currency exchange and that fees and rates may change without notice. See its Switzerland fees and exchange-rate information.

Your bank may offer an international transfer, but the available evidence here does not establish comparable current offers or prices from Swiss banks. Ask your bank for a quote and check whether the recipient’s bank or an intermediary may charge fees.
The Reserve Bank of India describes two inward-remittance frameworks: the Rupee Drawing Arrangement (RDA), in which authorized Indian banks tie up with overseas exchange houses, and the Money Transfer Service Scheme (MTSS), which permits personal remittances into India through overseas principals and RBI-authorized Indian agents. These descriptions do not establish which channel a particular Swiss bank or app uses. RBI states that MTSS is for inward remittances and does not permit outward remittances from India under that scheme. Read the RBI FAQ on RDA and MTSS and the RBI MTSS guidelines for the scheme descriptions.

How to compare fees and exchange rates
The useful comparison is what leaves your account versus what arrives. A low transfer fee does not necessarily mean a low-cost transfer if the exchange rate is less favorable or the funding method costs more.
- Total CHF paid: Include the transfer fee and any payment-method charge shown before payment.
- INR delivered: Compare the final amount quoted for the recipient after conversion and disclosed charges.
- Exchange rate: Check the displayed CHF-to-INR rate and whether the provider identifies a separate markup. Wise says it uses a mid-market rate; Western Union says it earns from currency exchange.
- Other charges: Look for any disclosed intermediary or receiving-bank fees. If the provider cannot confirm whether these apply, ask the provider or recipient’s bank rather than assuming the transfer fee covers them.
- Payment and payout choices: Keep these the same across quotes. A bank-funded transfer and a card-funded transfer may have different fees and delivery estimates.
For a 2,000 CHF comparison on its Switzerland-to-India route page, Wise displayed fees of 7.63 CHF from Wise-account money, 8.43 CHF by bank transfer, 30.03 CHF by debit card, 72.57 CHF by credit card, and 77.22 CHF with Google Pay or Apple Pay. These were Wise-published examples on a route-page snapshot accessed October 7, 2026—not a permanent tariff or market-wide comparison. Use Wise’s route calculator for a current quote, then compare it with other providers using the same amount and transfer details.

How long does a transfer take?
Delivery depends on the provider’s estimate for your specific payment and payout methods. Funding method, banking hours and routine checks can affect timing, so use the estimate shown during the transaction rather than assuming a service-wide delivery time.
On its route page snapshot accessed October 7, 2026, Wise said 74% of transfers were completed in under 20 seconds and 95% in less than a day. Those are Wise’s provider-published figures, not independent statistics or a guarantee for an individual transfer. Check the live estimate for your own transaction.
