Shell Canada has completed its switch from AIR MILES to Scene+. Scene+ began at Shell in Alberta on March 3, 2026, and across the rest of Canada on May 26, 2026. AIR MILES earning and redemption at Shell ended in Alberta on March 2 and elsewhere in Canada on May 25. Your existing AIR MILES balance did not convert to Scene+ points; the change affects earning and redeeming rewards at Shell.
When did Shell switch from AIR MILES to Scene+?
The transition happened in two stages. Shell announced the dates on January 26, 2026, and confirmed the nationwide launch on May 26. Its launch announcement said Scene+ was then available at more than 1,400 Shell-branded locations across Canada. Shell’s January announcement and nationwide launch announcement provide the dates.

As of October 7, 2026, Scene+ is Shell Canada’s current loyalty program nationwide. AIR MILES may continue to operate with other participating partners, but it can no longer be earned or redeemed at Shell.
What happened to existing AIR MILES?
Your AIR MILES balance was not transferred to Scene+ and was not reduced by the Shell change. Shell says existing balances remain unchanged. Continue to manage and redeem those miles through the AIR MILES program and its participating partners; they are separate from Scene+ points. Shell’s Scene+ information explains the change.

How do you earn and redeem Scene+ points at Shell?
Earn points on eligible purchases
- Earn 1 Scene+ point per litre of Shell fuel.
- Earn 1 point per dollar on eligible convenience-store and car-wash purchases.
- Purchases such as tobacco and vape products, lottery products, gift cards, prepaid cards, telephone cards, transit fares and Shell Recharge EV charging are excluded. In a mixed transaction, only eligible items count.
Shell Go+ members who link their Scene+ account can receive additional bonus points under Shell’s stated offers: 10% more bonus points on Regular, Plus and Diesel fuel and eligible convenience-store or car-wash purchases, and 2x bonus points on V-Power. These are offer terms, not a permanent base earn rate; check Shell’s current Scene+ page for changes and conditions.
Redeem points at participating Shell locations
Shell’s stated redemption value is 1,000 points for $10 off eligible fuel, car-wash or convenience purchases. Redemption is in 1,000-point increments, with a minimum of 1,000 points, a maximum of 10,000 points per transaction and 20,000 points per 24-hour period. Exclusions and other terms apply. See the Scene+ terms and conditions and Shell’s current offer terms before redeeming.

Ways to use Scene+ at Shell

You can join Scene+ online or in its app, scan a QR code at a Shell site, or pick up a physical membership card at a participating Shell station. Shell says points earned there follow the same Scene+ rules as points earned with other partners and may qualify for wider Scene+ promotions, subject to program terms.
Can linked bank cards add fuel savings?
Shell’s FAQ describes 3¢ per litre in fuel savings for eligible linked Scotiabank credit and debit cards, and an additional 4¢ per litre on V-Power for eligible Scotiabank Scene+ credit cards under the stated conditions. Shell also mentions eligible Tangerine cards and CAA in its savings ecosystem. These benefits depend on the specific card, location and current terms; check Shell’s Scene+ FAQ before counting on a particular discount. Do not assume that every Scotiabank or Tangerine card qualifies.

What changed for Shell customers?
Customers who previously presented AIR MILES at Shell now need to use Scene+ to earn or redeem loyalty rewards there. Shell General Manager Kent Martin said when announcing the partnership in January 2026: “Partnering with Scene+, Scotiabank and Tangerine is a major step forward for our loyalty and partner programs, creating the best experience for our customers to save and earn rewards when they visit Shell.” The practical distinction is straightforward: new Shell rewards accrue to Scene+, while existing AIR MILES remain with AIR MILES.
