Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFor most investors outside mainland China, the clearest documented route to China Construction Bank (CCB) shares is to buy its Hong Kong-listed H-shares through a broker that offers Hong Kong Stock Exchange trading and accepts residents of your country. Search for CCB, ticker 939 or stock code 00939. CCB also has Shanghai-listed A-shares, code 601939, but access to those shares through Stock Connect depends on eligibility that should be checked with HKEX and your broker.
Which China Construction Bank shares can you buy?
CCB has two listed ordinary-share lines, on different exchanges:
| Share line | Exchange and code | Issuer-stated board lot | Access consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| H-shares | Hong Kong Stock Exchange; ticker 939, stock code 00939 | 1,000 shares per block | Look for a broker that supports Hong Kong-listed shares and accepts customers in your country. |
| A-shares | Shanghai Stock Exchange; code 601939 | 100 shares per block | International access may be available only through applicable channels and eligible securities; current CCB eligibility was not established. |
The identifiers and board-lot figures are from CCB’s General Shareholder Information page, which also lists the H-share listing date as 27 October 2005 and the A-share listing date as 25 September 2007. The dates are historical listing details, not indicators of present-day accessibility.
How to buy CCB H-shares through a broker
- Check country eligibility. Before opening or funding an account, confirm that the broker accepts residents of your country and offers Hong Kong-listed equities. Availability, fees and account rules vary by jurisdiction and provider.
- Find the correct listing. In the broker’s search or order ticket, look up China Construction Bank and verify the Hong Kong listing: ticker 939 or stock code 00939. Do not confuse it with the Shanghai A-share code 601939.
- Review the order ticket and trading costs. CCB’s FAQ states a 1,000-share H-share board lot. Check whether the broker accepts odd-lot orders and what order sizes it permits. Review commissions, minimum charges, exchange fees, currency conversion, custody and dividend-handling charges in the broker’s current terms.
- Confirm currency and settlement details. Check which currency the broker uses for the trade and settlement, how any conversion is performed, and whether conversion fees apply. Do not assume that the account’s base currency determines the trading or settlement currency.
- Place an order only after reviewing the details. Confirm the exchange, code, quantity, order type and estimated charges in the live ticket before submitting. The issuer’s stated board lot is not a guarantee that every broker’s order interface follows the same rules.
The evidence here does not establish a particular broker, its current country coverage, fees, custody arrangements or account minimums. Verify those details directly with the provider before transferring funds.

Can you buy CCB A-shares through Stock Connect?
Possibly, but the existence of Stock Connect does not by itself confirm that CCB’s Shanghai shares are currently available to you. HKEX describes Northbound Stock Connect as a route for international investors to trade selected securities on mainland exchanges, subject to eligible-security and participant requirements. Its Stock Connect Explained overview is a program description, not confirmation that code 601939 is currently eligible or supported by your broker.
Before relying on this route, check the current Northbound eligible-security list and ask your broker whether it permits you to trade CCB A-shares. Eligibility and access can change; a broker must also support the relevant market-access arrangement.

Why Southbound Stock Connect is not the general overseas route
Southbound Stock Connect is described as a way for qualified investors in mainland China to trade eligible Hong Kong-listed securities. It is not a general access route for someone who lives outside mainland China. HKEX’s 2025 Stock Connect review reported 564 Southbound stocks and 23 ETFs at the end of December 2025; those program-wide figures do not establish an investor’s eligibility or CCB’s status in any channel.
What to know about ADRs and shareholder administration
Do not assume there is an ADR
The sources cited here confirm CCB’s Hong Kong H-share and Shanghai A-share listings, but do not establish a current CCB ADR or OTC depositary receipt. Do not trade on the basis of an assumed US ticker; verify any claimed alternative listing with an official exchange, the issuer or your broker.

CCB’s 2025 annual report, published 27 March 2026, names Computershare Hong Kong Investor Services as the H-share registrar for shareholder administration and enquiries. A registrar is not a broker or a place to place a purchase order. The report also notes that H-share shareholders were offered the option to receive 2025 interim dividends in RMB for the first time; this applies to that distribution period and should not be assumed for later dividends.

- Access: The broker accepts customers resident in your country and supports the intended exchange and share line.
- Trading costs: Commission, minimum charges, exchange fees, currency conversion, custody and dividend-related fees.
- Order rules: The applicable lot size, current order-ticket requirements and whether odd-lot trades are supported.
- Share class: You are buying Hong Kong H-shares (939/00939) or Shanghai A-shares (601939) as intended.
- Personal circumstances: Consider investment suitability and local tax treatment separately; the trading route does not answer either question.
This guide explains how to identify a trading route, not whether CCB shares are suitable or fairly valued. Prices, investment risks and tax consequences are not assessed here.
