To request an eligible Epic Games Store refund, sign in to your Epic account, open Transactions in account settings, select the purchase, then choose Request refund. Your options depend on the purchase label, platform, elapsed time, recorded playtime and where you paid.
Check whether the purchase qualifies
Epic’s refund policy distinguishes between three purchase labels. Check the label and the applicable time and playtime limits before starting:
- Self-refundable: Request the refund from the Transactions page.
- Refundable: The purchase may qualify, but you must contact Player Support rather than use the self-service option.
- Non-refundable: The item is generally ineligible under Epic’s policy.
For PC and Mac purchases marked refundable or self-refundable, Epic generally allows a request within 14 days of purchase, provided the game has less than two hours of recorded runtime. For a pre-purchase, the 14-day period runs from release. These are policy conditions, not a guarantee that every purchase will be approved. See Epic’s refund policy and its refund instructions.
For eligible iOS and Android mobile products, the stated request window is two hours from purchase. Check the product label and platform: the PC/Mac 14-day rule is not the mobile rule.

Pre-purchases, early access and bundles
A self-refundable pre-purchase can be refunded before release. After release, the standard rules apply. Early access and beta versions still require less than two hours of recorded runtime. A pre-purchased bundle marked refundable or self-refundable must have under two hours of runtime across the products in that bundle. Bundles that contain virtual currency or consumables may be marked non-refundable.
Request the refund through Epic
- Sign in to the Epic account that made the purchase.
- Open account settings and select Transactions.
- Find the game purchase. If it is self-refundable, select Request refund.
- Choose a reason and submit the request.
- If the purchase is marked refundable, contact Epic Player Support instead; it is not handled through the self-service route.
If the refund option is missing, check the purchase label, platform, date, runtime and exclusions below. If you believe the purchase meets the policy but still cannot request a refund, contact Player Support.

Know the common exclusions
Epic generally excludes virtual currency, consumable digital items, many in-app purchases and gifts. A purchase may also be ineligible if you were banned from the product or violated its terms. Epic may restrict refunds if it determines that someone is abusing the policy, such as repeatedly buying and refunding the same product. Applicable law may affect these rules.
There is one useful sale-related exception: Epic says an eligible recent purchase that later goes on sale can be refunded for the full amount and repurchased, and that this does not count as refund abuse.

Make the request at the store that processed payment
Epic’s policy applies to purchases made through Epic checkout on PC, Mac and mobile. If you paid through a console store, a third-party mobile store or a developer’s own payment provider, request the refund from that store or provider. Epic says it cannot provide refunds for purchases made outside of the Epic Games Store.

Epic says it sends refunds to the original payment method whenever possible, but processing time depends on that method. Its current support instructions say funds may take up to 30 days to return. In some regions, Epic may offer account balance instead; that balance is non-refundable except where applicable law requires otherwise. A bank or payment provider’s posting date can differ, so treat the 30-day figure as Epic’s stated estimate, not a guaranteed arrival date. See Epic Player Support.
