Kalshi’s Gold 15 min contracts ask whether a specified gold-price reading will be at or above a target at a particular endpoint. The Yes and No prices are tradable contract quotes; they are not the gold price used to settle the contract. The outcome depends on the individual market’s rules, including its endpoint, data source and treatment of missing data.
What a Kalshi 15-minute gold market asks
Each window sets a gold-price target and an endpoint. In the sampled contract, the rule was: “Resolves Yes if the close price of the 1-minute candlestick for Gold on Aug 7, 2026 at 11:00 PM EDT is at least 4342.39 USD/t.oz.” The named verification source was Pyth – Gold. That target is from a historical market, not a current gold quote or an indication of today’s target. See the sampled Gold 15 min market rules.
The market page presents information such as the target, current underlying value, distance from target, time remaining, chart, order book and order panel. Kalshi describes the series as rapid windows that open, trade and settle on a short cadence; its phrase “A 15-minute market opens, trades, and settles in about the time it takes to read this page” is product-page shorthand, not a promise that the official determination or payout always happens within fifteen minutes. Kalshi Pro’s 15-minute markets guide was updated September 28, 2026.
Which price determines the outcome?
The gold reference value
For the sampled contract, the settlement comparison used the close of the specified one-minute Gold candle at the stated endpoint. A value at or above the target resolved Yes under that rule. The contract also specified rounding the settlement value to the nearest two decimal places. It said that if the named source did not publish data for the specified time, the most recently available published data would be used. Those are terms of that historical contract; another window may state different terms. Read the sampled contract’s rules.
Crossing the target earlier in the 15-minute window does not by itself settle the contract. The endpoint measurement and the contract’s stated methodology control, even if the underlying price moves above and below the target during the window. Check the current market’s full rules rather than assuming every Gold 15 min contract uses identical language.
The Yes and No contract quotes
Yes and No quotes reflect what participants are willing to trade at, not the underlying gold price. Kalshi’s general contract guide says a correct contract is worth $1. A quote can be informative about market participants’ views, but it is not a guaranteed or objective probability: spread, available liquidity and order-book depth affect the price at which a trade can be made. In the order book, bids are the maximum buyers will pay and asks are the minimum sellers will accept. Kalshi’s contract-price and order-book guidance.
How to check a specific Gold 15 min window
- Open that window’s market page and full rules. The rules summary can outline the measured value, timeline and verification source, but Kalshi says the summary is not a substitute for the full rules. Kalshi’s guidance on market rules.
- Confirm the target and comparison. Check the exact target and whether Yes means the endpoint value must be at least that amount.
- Read the endpoint and time zone. Make sure you know the exact timestamp being measured; do not infer it from the market’s general 15-minute label.
- Identify the source and measurement. Verify the named source and the specific price observation or candle close that the rules use.
- Check rounding and fallback language. Look for how the value is rounded and what happens if the source has no data at the specified time.
- Assess the tradable quote separately. Review Yes and No bids and asks, spread, time remaining and available liquidity. These describe the contract market, not the settlement gold value.
- After the window closes, check its status. Trading can end before the outcome is officially determined; use the market page to see whether it is still awaiting resolution.
When does a Kalshi gold market resolve?
The market page gives its own opening and closing times, and payout timing can vary. One historical example opened at 10:45 PM EDT, closed at 11:00 PM EDT and displayed a payout at 11:05 PM EDT; that single example does not establish a standard schedule. Kalshi’s help guidance says determination may take from one hour to more than twelve hours after closure when the market is waiting for source data, while its FAQ says most markets settle within a few hours. For context only, the historical market KXGOLD15M-26AUG072300-00 had a target of $4,342.39 and a final value of $4,343.44, with payout shown five minutes after the displayed close. It illustrates one contract’s display and result, not a current price or a typical payout guarantee. Historical Gold 15 min market.
