NVIDIA (Nasdaq: NVDA) reported $96.2 billion in revenue for fiscal Q2 2027, up 18% from the previous quarter and 106% from a year earlier. That growth is striking, but it does not establish that the stock is cheap: valuation depends on the price investors pay relative to future earnings and cash generation, as well as the risks to those expectations.
What is NVDA, and where can investors find company information?
NVDA is NVIDIA Corporation’s ticker symbol on the Nasdaq. NVIDIA’s investor FAQ answers the question, “I am interested in becoming an investor, how do I get financial information on NVIDIA?” The company directs investors to its Investor Resources FAQs; its filings are available through the SEC.

Is Nvidia stock overvalued?
There is no answer based on revenue growth alone. A stock’s valuation is the market price relative to what investors expect the business to earn and generate in cash in the future. Strong historical growth can support expectations, but it does not prove those expectations—or the price attached to them—are reasonable.

A current valuation multiple also needs two clearly dated inputs: a share price and an earnings figure. The earnings denominator must be identified as trailing (already reported) or forward (estimated). No timestamped share price or defined earnings basis is established here, so no current P/E or other valuation multiple is quoted.
Questions to ask when assessing valuation
- How much future growth is already reflected in the share price, and how durable might that growth be?
- Do reported earnings convert into cash generation, and are margins sustainable?
- Can NVIDIA maintain its competitive position as customer needs and technology change?
- How do customer concentration, supply constraints, and export or regulatory exposure affect the outlook?
- What price is being paid relative to a clearly stated trailing or forward earnings measure?
These are analytical questions, not a conclusion that NVDA is cheap or expensive. Any multiple should be recalculated with a dated quote and a denominator that matches the question being asked.

What do NVIDIA’s latest reported results show—and what do they not show?
In its August 26, 2026 release, NVIDIA reported fiscal Q2 2027 revenue of $96.2 billion, up 18% sequentially and 106% year over year. Those are historical company results, not a forecast of future performance or shareholder returns. The release also provided an outlook for fiscal Q3 2027 and cautioned that forward-looking statements involve risks and uncertainties. Read the results release for management’s outlook and its qualifications.
CEO Jensen Huang described the company’s view in that release: “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue,” Management’s statement characterizes its view of demand; it is not independent proof that future demand, earnings, or returns will meet expectations.

A share price can move when investors revise expectations about growth, profits, or risk. NVIDIA specifically warns that results below analyst or investor expectations could cause its share price to decline. When expectations are high, even results that show substantial growth may disappoint if investors expected more. That is a general explanation of how expectations can affect a stock, not a claim about a measured NVDA volatility level.
NVIDIA’s filings also discuss market-price volatility for publicly held equity securities in its investment portfolio. That disclosure concerns securities NVIDIA owns; it is not a volatility statistic for NVDA shares. No independently sourced NVDA volatility statistic is provided here.

What risks could affect NVIDIA’s business and its stock?
NVIDIA’s fiscal 2026 Form 10-K identifies several business risks that investors may want to weigh against growth expectations. The company states, “Failure to meet the evolving needs of our industry and markets may adversely impact our financial results.” Its discussion includes the following:
- Competition and changing technology: Accelerated-computing markets change rapidly. If NVIDIA fails to meet evolving market needs or loses ground to competitors, its financial results could suffer.
- Supply and manufacturing: Long lead times, uncertain capacity, dependence on third-party suppliers, and errors in forecasting demand can create mismatches. These may affect product delivery, costs, inventory, and results.
- Customer concentration: Two direct customers represented 22% and 14% of total revenue, respectively, in fiscal 2026. These are historical full-year figures from the company’s fiscal 2026 Form 10-K; they do not establish the same proportions for the latest quarter or for the current period.
- Export controls and regulation: Export restrictions and other political or regulatory actions could adversely affect NVIDIA’s business.
- Expectations: Results below analyst or investor expectations could pressure the share price, even when the company remains profitable or reports year-over-year growth.
These risks are described in NVIDIA’s Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended January 25, 2026. They describe possible challenges, not predictions that any one outcome will occur.

How can investors research NVDA before making a decision?
- Confirm the latest company information. Use NVIDIA’s investor resources and SEC filings to locate the newest results, outlook, and annual or quarterly report.
- Separate reported results from projections. Note the period covered by each figure, and distinguish actual results from management’s outlook and other forward-looking statements.
- Check the valuation inputs. Record the date and time of the share price and specify whether any earnings figure is trailing or forward. Do not compare a quote and earnings figure from mismatched periods without explaining the difference.
- Test the expectations. Consider whether growth, margins, and cash generation appear sustainable in light of competition, customer concentration, supply capacity, and regulatory exposure.
- Revisit the case when evidence changes. New filings, results, or changes in market expectations can alter both the business outlook and the price investors are willing to pay.
