“Pending” is a status shown by a wallet, exchange, or other provider; it does not by itself prove that your ADA transaction has reached Cardano’s public ledger. Start by finding the transaction ID (TxId) in the sending app and searching it in a Cardano explorer. What the explorer shows—and whether the recipient has credited the funds—determines what to check next.
How do I check an ADA transaction?
- Open the sending wallet or exchange withdrawal record. Find the transaction details and copy the TxId. Cardano describes a transaction lifecycle of creation, signing, and submission: the sender must authorize it, and it must be submitted to be reflected in the ledger. After those steps, its content can be viewed in an explorer. See Cardano Docs: Transaction tutorials.
- Search the TxId in a Cardano explorer. Cardano’s tracking-tools guidance says explorers can search by transaction ID and show block information and confirmations. See Cardano Docs: Cardano tracking tools.
- Compare the explorer result with the sending app and recipient service. Note whether the transaction appears, whether a block is shown, and any confirmation-depth information. Then check whether the recipient has credited the deposit under its own policy.
A TxId is the useful starting point, but it is not the same as proof that the recipient has settled or credited a payment.
What does the explorer result mean?
| What you find | What it tells you | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No TxId in the sending app | The available information does not establish that the transaction reached the public chain. | Check the app’s submission result and any displayed error. If it remains unclear, contact the wallet or exchange support team. Do not send again blindly; retry behavior depends on the provider. |
| TxId found, but no block inclusion shown | The explorer’s current display does not show block inclusion. That alone does not prove a confirmed failure. | Check again using guidance from the wallet or provider, and share the TxId with its support team if the status remains unresolved. |
| Transaction included in a block | The transaction has block inclusion, but its confirmation depth and the recipient’s internal settlement status are separate matters. | Review the explorer’s confirmation details and the recipient service’s deposit policy. |
| A validation or submission error appears | The sending app or node may have rejected the transaction or reported another issue. | Save the exact error text and TxId. For a consumer wallet or exchange, ask its support team to interpret the message rather than trying node or CLI commands. |
Cardano’s local submission protocol separates a submission response from later distribution across nodes. Cardano Docs describes it this way: “The client sends a request with a single transaction” and “The server either accepts the transaction (returning a confirmation), or rejects it (returning the reason).” Acceptance at this step is not the same as block inclusion or recipient credit. See Cardano Docs: Cardano network.
Why is my Cardano transaction not showing up?
The sending app has not provided a TxId
Without a TxId, you cannot use the usual explorer lookup to establish whether a transaction is on-chain. Check the withdrawal or send record for a submission result, failure notice, or validation message. If the app still shows pending without an identifier, contact that wallet or exchange; do not assume a second send is safe.

The explorer finds the TxId but shows no block
Record exactly what the explorer displays and check the provider’s status guidance. An explorer view without block inclusion is not, by itself, proof that the transaction definitively failed. The sending node can accept or reject a local submission, while node-to-node propagation is a distinct step.
The explorer shows a block, but the receiving account is still pending
Block inclusion and confirmation depth describe the transaction’s place in the chain. Cardano Docs distinguishes transaction confirmation or depth from chain confirmation and stability; additional blocks increase the likelihood that a transaction is immutable. A receiving exchange, merchant, or other service may apply a separate policy before crediting a deposit. Check both the explorer and the recipient’s deposit rules. See Cardano Docs: Chain confirmation versus transaction confirmation.

What do common ADA transaction errors mean?
Some technical error names can help a wallet or exchange support agent diagnose a problem. The linked troubleshooting guide is for node and CLI users, so treat these as clues to report—not as instructions to build or resubmit a transaction yourself. See Input Output Hong Kong cardano-node wiki: Diagnosing transactions problems and troubleshooting.
Failed readingor malformed/not hex encoded: the guide’s example diagnosis is an invalid transaction input or UTXO. Ask support to check the input UTXO.ExpiredUTxO: the current slot is outside the transaction’s validity interval. The guide’s example remedy is to build a new transaction with a later validity bound; its slot-count suggestion is CLI-specific, not a consumer-wallet wait time.ValueNotConservedUTxO: inputs do not balance the fee, amount sent, and change. The example diagnostic is to check output value against input value.BadInputsUTxO: the UTXO transaction index is invalid. The guide points to verifying that index.
Keep the complete error message rather than paraphrasing it. Its wording, along with the TxId and the app where it appeared, gives provider support more useful context.

Could the fee or processing time be the issue?
Cardano Docs gives the minimum-fee formula as a * size(tx) + b, where a and b are protocol parameters and size(tx) is transaction size in bytes. The fee-per-byte and fixed-fee parameters can be updated, so use the estimate presented by your wallet rather than relying on a static fee figure. If the app reports a fee or validation error, ask that provider what it means for your transaction. See Cardano Docs: Cardano fee structure and Cardano Docs: Cardano protocol parameters reference guide.
The official material does not establish one universal wait time or confirmation count that applies to every ADA transaction and destination. Block depth relates to the likelihood of immutability, while a recipient service may set its own deposit-crediting policy. Use the on-chain result and the recipient’s stated policy to assess the two statuses separately.
