argenx SE has a fast-growing VYVGART business, substantial reported cash resources and a pipeline that could broaden its future growth. Those strengths do not by themselves make ARGX a fit for every portfolio: much of the commercial story depends on one franchise, clinical programs carry uncertainty, and the available figures do not establish whether the shares are attractively priced. The decision depends on the current valuation as well as your time horizon, risk tolerance, diversification and position size.
What would you own by buying ARGX?
argenx SE is a global immunology company whose lead commercial franchise is VYVGART, or efgartigimod, a neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) blocker. Its revenue comes primarily from selling medicines, while its longer-term growth case also depends on developing new uses for efgartigimod and advancing other drug candidates.
The company’s 2025 annual report described VYVGART as approved across multiple indications and markets. Approval details differ by jurisdiction. In a July 2026 update, argenx said the U.S. label had expanded to cover all adult generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) serotypes, and that the expanded label had launched. The company also reported launching a self-injection prefilled syringe in 2025. A broader label or a more convenient formulation may help adoption, but neither guarantees that prescriptions, access or sales will keep growing.
argenx shares trade on Nasdaq and Euronext under the symbol ARGX. The investment case is therefore a combination of an operating drug business and the uncertain potential of a biotechnology pipeline—not simply a bet on a single clinical trial.

What do the latest reported results show?
The latest financial period in the company’s reported results was the six months ended June 30, 2026, released July 23, 2026. The interim figures are company-reported and unaudited; a six-month result should not be treated as a full-year forecast.
| Measure | Period | Company-reported figure |
|---|---|---|
| Product net sales | Full year 2024 | $2.2 billion |
| Product net sales | Full year 2025 | $4.2 billion |
| Research and development expense | Full year 2025 | $1.4 billion |
| Global product net sales | Second quarter 2026 | $1.5 billion, up 60% year over year |
| Product net sales | First half 2026 | $2.8 billion |
| Profit | First half 2026 | $838 million |
| Operating cash flow | First half 2026 | $0.7 billion |
| Cash, cash equivalents and current financial assets | As of June 30, 2026 | $5.2 billion |
| Research and development expense | First half 2026 | $0.9 billion |
The reported sales growth, profit and operating cash flow are evidence of a business that had reached meaningful commercial scale by mid-2026. Cash and current financial assets can support research, development and commercialization. They do not remove the risk that a product’s growth slows, that trials disappoint or that spending rises. Nor do strong operating results establish that a share price is attractive.
How much of the growth case depends on future development?
Expanding VYVGART
argenx’s near-term commercial opportunity includes wider adoption of VYVGART and the potential effect of label expansions. The U.S. adult gMG expansion was launched by the July 2026 update. Whether it translates into durable sales growth depends on factors such as physician uptake, patient access, reimbursement and competition. Product labels and availability are not the same in every country.

Other efgartigimod programs
In its 2025 annual report, management outlined planned 2026 readouts in ocular myasthenia gravis, autoimmune myositis, multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN) and primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), with additional readouts planned for 2027. The July 2026 update said a myositis trial readout was expected in the third quarter of 2026. That was a stated expectation at the time, not confirmation of an outcome or a current timetable. A trial result, even if positive, would not automatically mean regulatory approval, reimbursement or substantial commercial sales.
FB102 and the Forte Biosciences acquisition
argenx completed its acquisition of Forte Biosciences on August 27, 2026, adding FB102, an anti-CD122 antibody candidate. The company reported clinical proof-of-concept data in vitiligo and celiac disease, a Phase 2 celiac study underway with data expected in the second half of 2026, and an ongoing Phase 1b alopecia areata trial. These are company-reported development details, not established treatments or guaranteed milestones. FB102 could add scientific breadth beyond VYVGART, while also bringing clinical-development and acquisition-integration risk.
What could make the investment thesis go wrong?
Product and customer concentration
VYVGART is argenx’s principal commercial franchise. Three U.S. customers represented approximately 72% of the company’s product net sales in the first half of 2026, according to its SEC-filed half-year report. Dependence on a leading product and a small number of large customers can make reported results sensitive to uptake, distribution arrangements, access and payer decisions.

Clinical and regulatory uncertainty
Drug candidates can fail in trials, produce delayed or inconclusive results, or succeed clinically without receiving the approval needed to sell them for a particular use. Readout targets can move. Even after approval, the number of eligible patients, prescribing patterns and access arrangements affect commercial potential. Pipeline announcements should therefore be treated as uncertain possibilities, not booked future revenue.
Competition, biosimilars and pricing pressure
argenx identifies competition, potential future biosimilar competition, government pricing laws, regulation and market acceptance among its business risks. A drug’s commercial opportunity can change if competing treatments gain traction, payers restrict coverage, or pricing rules affect realized sales.
Spending and execution
The company reported $1.4 billion of R&D expense in 2025 and $0.9 billion in the first half of 2026. Developing a broad pipeline and supporting a growing commercial business require ongoing investment. Cash resources provide capacity, but sustained spending and operational execution still matter to future margins and cash generation.

Acquisition and share-price risk
FB102’s development and commercial prospects remain uncertain, and integrating an acquired program introduces execution risk. More broadly, argenx warns that forward-looking statements are not guarantees and that its share price may be volatile. Investors should consider how a substantial decline would affect their plan before deciding how much to invest.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can the available evidence tell you whether ARGX is fairly valued?
No. The available information does not establish an October 7, 2026 share price, market capitalization, valuation multiple, analyst consensus or fair-value estimate. The financial results above describe company performance, not the price an investor should pay. Without a current quote and explicit valuation assumptions, it would not be sound to call ARGX cheap, expensive or a buy.
Before drawing a valuation conclusion, check a dated quote and the share count used to calculate market capitalization. Then compare the price with the company’s sales, earnings and cash generation, taking account of its cash and financial assets, continuing R&D needs, product concentration and the uncertainty of pipeline revenue. Peer comparisons are most useful when they account for differences in approved products, commercial scale, profitability and development stage; a simple comparison of headline multiples can be misleading.

argenx’s company financial calendar listed October 22, 2026 for third-quarter results, a future date as of October 7. New results could change the operating picture, but they would not replace the need to assess the share price and valuation at the time of a decision.
Questions to ask before adding ARGX to your portfolio
- What is my time horizon? A thesis that relies on clinical readouts and adoption may take years to develop, and milestones can be delayed.
- Can I tolerate a sharp loss? Consider the effect of a disappointing trial, slower VYVGART uptake, pricing pressure or a broader biotech selloff on your finances and willingness to hold.
- How concentrated would my portfolio become? Account for existing biotechnology and healthcare holdings, as well as exposure to clinical-stage companies and a single-product commercial story.
- What am I paying today? Use a current quote and a transparent valuation approach; past sales growth alone does not answer this.
- How large should the position be? Choose an amount consistent with your risk limits and broader diversification rather than assuming that a promising company deserves a large allocation.
- What would change my view? Decide which developments—such as sales trends, customer concentration, trial outcomes, regulatory decisions or spending—would strengthen or weaken your thesis, and check company updates against those criteria.
For a personal-finance decision, the central question is not whether argenx has attractive business prospects in isolation. It is whether the risk and potential return at the price you can buy today suit your own circumstances better than the alternatives available to you.
