To find a company’s shareholding pattern in India, use the official filing search on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) or BSE. Search by company name or exchange identifier, then check the reporting date and whether the filing was revised before relying on its figures. These company-level disclosures are not statements of your own demat holdings.
Where to find the official filing
SEBI’s Corporate Filings directory lists the exchange routes for Shareholding Patterns. Its navigation labels are NSE: Corporate Announcements > View All > Shareholding Patterns, and BSE: Corporates > Corporate Filings > Shareholding Patterns.
How to search on NSE
- Open the NSE Shareholding Patterns page.
- Search for the company by name or NSE symbol.
- Review the results’ reporting or “As on” date, submission date, revision date, and status. Open the filing link to view the disclosure.
The detailed filing can include tables for promoter and promoter group, public shareholders, non-promoter non-public shareholders, and significant beneficial owners.
How to search on BSE
- Open the BSE Shareholding Pattern search page.
- Search for and select the company’s filing.
- Check the reporting period and inspect the category-level tables and explanatory notes on the page.
How to choose the right filing
Do not assume the most recently submitted item is the newest ownership snapshot. A company may submit a revision for an earlier reporting date. Compare the reporting date with the submission date, revision date, and status shown by NSE, and open the underlying filing rather than relying only on a summary percentage.
#1 Best Overall
- Reporting date: The date for which the shareholding snapshot is reported.
- Submission date: When the filing was submitted or displayed by the exchange.
- Revision date and status: Whether the disclosure was revised and the status shown for that filing.
- Category detail: The shareholder groups and related tables included in the filing.
What to check inside the disclosure
Start by confirming the issuer name, exchange symbol or scrip code, security class, report type, reporting date, and regulation stated in the filing. Then review the summary and category tables, and use the filing link to check the full tables and declarations.
For example, an NSE archived filing for Allied Digital Services Limited identifies the issuer, NSE symbol, ISIN, report type, reporting date, and applicable SEBI regulation before its detailed tables. It illustrates the disclosure’s structure; it is not evidence of the company’s current ownership.

Company shareholding disclosure versus your demat holdings
An exchange shareholding pattern reports ownership categories for a company. It does not show an individual investor’s account balance or transaction history. For personal account access, CDSL says its Easi service lets registered beneficial owners and clearing members access demat accounts and view holdings or transactions. This guide does not cover a complete statement-download workflow.
