To move files from iCloud Drive to Koofr, download them to a computer, then upload them through Koofr’s web app or place them in the Koofr desktop sync folder. Check that the files are present in Koofr before deleting the iCloud copies. The documented workflow stages files on your computer; it does not establish a direct cloud-to-cloud transfer.
Choose how you want to put the files in Koofr
| Method | How it works | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Koofr web app | Download files from iCloud Drive to your computer, then upload them in Koofr. | You want to upload selected files without setting up desktop syncing. |
| Koofr desktop sync | Download or locate files on your computer, then copy them into the Koofr sync folder. The client syncs that folder to Koofr’s “My desktop sync” folder. | You want to transfer files through a local folder or keep its contents synchronized. |
| WebDAV | Connect Koofr as a network location, then copy files to it. Koofr requires an application-specific password. | You prefer accessing Koofr as a mounted drive and are comfortable with the setup. |
Koofr documents the desktop client and WebDAV as ways to access or sync files; its support pages do not provide comparative transfer-speed benchmarks. For a Windows transfer involving files larger than 50 MB, avoid WebDAV: Koofr’s Windows WebDAV help page says Windows has a default 50 MB file-size limit for uploads or downloads through WebDAV. Use the web app or desktop client instead.
Download files from iCloud Drive
- On a computer, sign in at iCloud.com and open iCloud Drive.
- Select the files you want to transfer and download them. Your browser saves them to its configured download location, which you can check in the browser’s download settings.
- Locate the downloaded files and confirm that they are available on the computer before starting the Koofr upload or sync.
Apple’s instructions describe downloading files to the computer, not importing them directly into another cloud service. Apple also notes that edits to a downloaded file remain only on the device unless you upload the changed file back to iCloud Drive. See Apple Support’s iCloud Drive download instructions.
Upload the files through Koofr’s web app
- Sign in to Koofr in a browser.
- Open the destination folder and use Koofr’s upload option to select the files you downloaded.
- After the upload finishes, open the destination folder and check that the files and expected folder contents appear there.
Keep the original iCloud files until you have checked the Koofr destination. Seeing files in the destination is a practical migration check, not a claim that either service automatically validates a transfer.
#1 Best Overall
- Easily store and access 2TB to content on the go with the Seagate Portable Drive, a USB external hard drive
- Designed to work with Windows or Mac computers, this external hard drive makes backup a snap just drag and drop
- To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition no software required
- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
Use Koofr’s desktop sync folder
- Install the Koofr desktop client and sign in. The client creates a local Koofr folder for syncing.
- Copy the downloaded iCloud files into that Koofr folder.
- Allow syncing to finish, then check in Koofr that the transferred files and folders are present.
Koofr describes this client folder as syncing content to “My desktop sync.” A sync folder is not simply a one-time upload: changes to its contents can continue to synchronize. On Windows, Koofr notes that certain filename characters and filenames ending in a period or space can cause sync errors. If syncing fails, check the names of the affected files and consult Koofr’s desktop client setup guidance.
Copy locally available files on a Mac
If the iCloud Drive files are already stored on your Mac, you can copy them in Finder into the Koofr sync folder. If they are not downloaded locally, first make them available on the Mac or download them from iCloud.com using the steps above. Koofr also documents mounting its WebDAV location in Finder; that setup requires an application-specific password.

Set up Koofr WebDAV if you need it
Koofr’s desktop-client instructions say that enabling the network drive in the client settings configures WebDAV automatically; Koofr calls this its recommended setup. Alternatively, Koofr’s Mac instructions describe connecting through Finder using an application-specific password. Follow Koofr’s desktop-client WebDAV setup steps or its Mac WebDAV instructions.
For Windows, Koofr documents the 50 MB default file-size limitation for WebDAV uploads or downloads in its Windows WebDAV instructions. For larger files, use Koofr’s web app or desktop client rather than Windows WebDAV.

Can Koofr import files directly from iCloud Drive?
Koofr’s help page about connected cloud services names Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox, but does not name iCloud Drive. That page therefore does not establish an iCloud Drive connection or a direct iCloud-to-Koofr import. The documented route is to download files from iCloud Drive to a computer and then upload or sync them to Koofr. See Koofr’s connected-cloud-services guidance.

Before removing the iCloud originals
- Check that the files appear in the intended Koofr folder.
- Open a few transferred files to make sure they are usable, and compare folder contents with the source.
- If you used desktop sync, confirm syncing has finished before deleting anything from iCloud Drive.
- Consider whether you want future changes to stay synchronized. A copy uploaded through the web app and a folder managed by desktop sync do not serve the same ongoing purpose.
