The proposal is not proof that the wallet has been approved, launched or made available to merchants; no official signup or setup route is established by the proposal.
What WLFI is proposing for businesses
A September 21, 2026, post on WLFI’s governance forum, titled “Proposal: USD1 Payments Wallet With WLFI Buyback & Burn,” outlines a wallet for consumers and businesses. It says users could hold, send, receive and spend USD1, while merchants could accept it using:
- QR codes
- Payment links
- E-commerce integrations
- Point-of-sale systems
These are proposed capabilities, not confirmed features of a live merchant product. The proposal page and the replies displayed there, dated September 27 and 29, do not establish that a vote passed or that development is complete. Read the WLFI governance proposal.
Can an online business accept USD1 now?
The available official material does not establish a generally available WLFI wallet or a verified merchant checkout integration. It therefore does not provide a current step-by-step way for a typical online store to add USD1 at checkout. The proposal is not an enrollment page, and it names no compatible payment processor, e-commerce platform or payment-link provider.

There is a separate infrastructure development: zerohash announced on July 14, 2026, that it supports USD1 in its digital-asset infrastructure and includes it in its on-chain money movement and payments stack for banks, brokerages, fintechs and payment providers. That is evidence of infrastructure support for zerohash-powered clients, not confirmation that an online store can sign up directly or that a specific checkout integration is available. See zerohash’s announcement.
Businesses considering that route would need to confirm directly with a prospective provider whether it supports USD1 for their use case, jurisdiction and account eligibility. Zerohash says its services may not be available in every jurisdiction, including New York.

How USD1 is described—and what merchants should verify
WLFI describes USD1 as redeemable one-to-one for U.S. dollars and available across multiple blockchain networks. Its product page says USD1 settles on-chain in seconds worldwide, 24/7; that is the company’s product claim, not an independent performance finding. The page reviewed marks its conversion feature “Coming soon.” See WLFI’s USD1 product page.
WLFI’s FAQ says USD1 is backed by short-term U.S. government treasuries, U.S. government money market funds, U.S. dollar deposits and other cash equivalents. It names BitGo as the issuer and says BitGo processes initial purchases and redemptions. Direct redemption is available to eligible BitGo customers; other holders may need to use exchanges, platforms or regulated custodians that support USD1, subject to each provider’s terms and eligibility. WLFI describes retail use and wider platform availability as expected, rather than confirming broad merchant acceptance today. Read WLFI’s USD1 FAQ.

Before relying on USD1 for business receipts, a merchant should establish which network and custody or payment provider are involved, how funds can be converted or redeemed, what fees apply, and whether the service is available where the business operates. The cited proposal does not specify a supported network for merchant checkout or set a fee schedule.
Fees and the proposed WLFI buyback
The proposal discusses charging a transaction or service fee and using a percentage of fees to buy and burn WLFI. It leaves the fee and buyback percentage to possible governance decisions. These are proposed economic terms, not an implemented fee policy or a confirmed benefit to merchants. Businesses cannot calculate their payment costs from the proposal alone.

What the zerohash figures do—and do not—show
In its July 14, 2026, announcement, zerohash said USD1 and WLFI were accessible alongside more than 100 supported digital assets, and described interoperability spanning 18 or more stablecoins across 20 or more chains. The announcement also reported USD1 circulating supply above $4.5 billion. These are figures stated by zerohash in that announcement, not independently verified current measurements or evidence of merchant adoption.
Zerohash also disclosed that its accounts are not subject to FDIC or SIPC protections and said technical support for an asset is not an endorsement or recommendation to buy, sell or hold it. Those disclosures matter when evaluating a provider; infrastructure support alone does not establish that USD1 is suitable for a business or that customer balances receive bank-deposit protections.

What to watch for before adding USD1 checkout
- A formal governance outcome and an official WLFI product or merchant-onboarding page.
- Named, verified integrations with a payment processor, e-commerce platform, payment-link service or POS provider.
- Supported blockchain networks, transaction and service fees, settlement terms, refund handling and redemption arrangements.
- Provider availability, merchant eligibility and any jurisdiction restrictions.
Until those details are published and confirmed by the relevant provider, merchants should treat the wallet as a proposal and avoid advertising USD1 checkout as an available payment option.
