If it is in a wallet you control, the shutdown may only remove that site’s interface or sales service. If the marketplace holds it in a custodial account, follow the provider’s official withdrawal process and deadline. Then verify the NFT’s network, contract and token ID, check that it is transferable, and confirm a replacement marketplace currently supports it before listing.
First, find out who controls the NFT
A marketplace page disappearing and an NFT ceasing to exist on its blockchain are different events. OpenSea says delisted items remain on the blockchain and in the owner’s wallet; that does not guarantee the NFT’s media is still available, that it can be transferred, or that another marketplace will support it. Start with the service’s official shutdown notice. Check whether the NFT is held in a platform account or in a wallet whose keys you control. The notice should identify affected networks and asset types, withdrawal availability, and any cutoff date and time zone. Do not rely on unsolicited messages or search-ad “recovery” offers.
Binance Japan provides a dated example, not a general shutdown rule: its June 2026 announcement said transferable NFTs had to be withdrawn to a compatible wallet before July 4, 2026, while non-transferable NFTs could not be withdrawn. If the NFT is in a marketplace account, follow its withdrawal process
Use only the official provider’s instructions. Confirm the destination wallet supports the NFT’s network and asset type, and follow the provider’s stated withdrawal steps and deadline. If the provider has stopped withdrawals or you cannot access the account, there is no universal recovery route: what is possible depends on that provider’s recovery process and custody arrangements. Contact its official support channel and preserve relevant account and transaction records.
Never give a support agent your seed phrase or private key. A legitimate support interaction should not require you to disclose either.

Record the NFT’s identifiers and verify wallet access
Before choosing a new marketplace, record the blockchain network, contract address, token ID and wallet address. These identifiers help distinguish the asset from similarly named collections and help you check whether a venue supports the correct item.
- Verify the NFT in the wallet you control or through a chain explorer reached independently.
- Make sure you are checking the correct network and contract, not just a marketplace page or collection name.
- Do not send the NFT to a new address just to test whether a marketplace can list it.
If the NFT was already in your own wallet, a shutdown may have removed a place to view, discover or sell it rather than the token itself. That distinction does not prove the NFT’s media remains accessible or that another service will accept it.

Check whether the NFT can be transferred
Seeing an NFT in a wallet does not mean it can be listed or moved. A contract may lock it, for example while it is staked or used as collateral, or it may behave in a way a marketplace does not support. OpenSea documents both locked assets and contract-standard issues as possible causes of listing or transfer errors. OpenSea: Why can’t I list or transfer my NFT?
Resolve a lock through the service or contract mechanism that created it; do not assume a new marketplace can bypass it. If the problem is a contract or standard incompatibility, the marketplace may be unable to help. A non-transferable NFT cannot be moved to another venue simply by changing websites.

Choose a compatible marketplace and make a fresh listing
Check a replacement venue’s current documentation before connecting a wallet or approving a transaction. Support can depend on the network, token standard, collection and specific contract. Also review the venue’s current sale formats, fees, creator-royalty rules, content policies and geographic restrictions; these vary and can change.
Service availability can be selective rather than all-or-nothing. For example, Magic Eden’s June 30, 2026 notice described winding down selected services while continuing its Solana Marketplace and Packs. Once you have confirmed compatibility, use the chosen venue’s current listing instructions. Listing may involve wallet confirmations or authorizations; read each prompt and verify the network, asset and requested action before approving. OpenSea’s instructions for transferring an NFT between wallets are one platform’s workflow, not proof that every venue or asset supports the same process. OpenSea: How do I transfer an NFT?
Review old listings and wallet permissions
Do not assume an old listing disappeared when its marketplace website did. OpenSea warns that inactive orders can become fillable again if their original conditions recur, such as when the NFT returns to a wallet. Its cancellation process requires an approval transaction that costs gas. OpenSea: How do I cancel a listing?
Check for outstanding orders and cancel ones you no longer want where possible. If you cannot access the original account, OpenSea’s help page mentions third-party revocation services but does not guarantee their services. Review any proposed wallet action carefully, including the network and what permissions or orders it affects. Do not approve a transaction you do not understand.
When you may not be able to sell
- The NFT is non-transferable: it cannot be withdrawn to another wallet or listed elsewhere by changing marketplaces. Binance Japan explicitly distinguished non-transferable NFTs in its June 2026 notice.
- The token is locked or its contract is unsupported: a lock or contract-standard issue can prevent transfer or listing even if the NFT appears in your wallet.
- No suitable marketplace supports it: on-chain existence does not require a marketplace to list an asset, and a venue may restrict content or disable trading through its service. OpenSea: What is the OpenSea content policy?
- A custodian has disabled access: recovery depends on that provider’s process and custody arrangements; the available information does not establish a universal way to retrieve the NFT.
Even when a token is accessible and transferable, a listing is not a sale guarantee. Whether a buyer is available, and at what price, depends on the market.
